rite, had a little issue this morning, couldent get into my car today, unlocked it and nothing happened, no actuators worked and it disabled itself! so i entered the code and it wouldent take it, so went inside and had a cup of tea and left it half hour-45 mins, and then went back and it unlocked fine and i started it and drove off, and all seems fine like nothing happened! and also could all these issues im having be the fuse box, does all this stuff like central locking and headlights and heaters all run thru this fuse box, i know the heaters do, and these work but the mixer dosent! but can these fuse boxes realy cause that much trouble? and iv rung harwoods and they are 240 quid, so is it worth just changing it anyways! thankyou soo much for your help and please bear with me, im not too good with electrics but am willing to learn, as i want to be better at this sort of thing! Tom. :D

The fuse box can certainly play havoc. Harwoods will rip you off, try indies like island 4 x 4, Google will give you many more, you can also try Ebay.

Had a similar issue with unlocking car myself recently, luckily the tailgate unlocked so climbed in and put key in ignition to reset. You might want to check that you can open driver's door manually with the key

okay, thankyou for that info, have looked and island 4x4 sell them for about 160 so not so bad, at the end of the day if it might sort my electrical issues then im more than willing to pay for it, but visualy it looks okay, iv had the relays and fuses out and all of them look and feel fine and the box looks to be in good nick! but ever sice my dad has had the car(it is now mine, managed to steal it of him) the passangers side front door has never unlocked and i only ever use the key in the door as iv had issues with the remote in the past, and the lights have always played around but its only dipped beam! All your help is very much appriciated!

If the fuse box smells of burning it's probably knackered, it's in 2 pieces, you cannot see the problems unless you separate the 2 halves. Can sometimes be repaired if you are handy with a soldering iron.
If you decide to replace the fuse box, make sure you get the right one for your year and model.

okay, cool, well i will replace anyways as repairing is pointless as they arnt that expensive realy! and yea ino there are like 5 different ones maby more! but it dosent always smell, only sometimes after a long run but hey, atleast it might fix something, if not well atleast i know its good! but still not convinced its the headlight problem as there is no fuse in there for the headlights that i can see!

Headlights are controlled by the BECM, but electrical noise from a failing fuse box can play havoc with the BECM.

yea i looked on the tinternet and found out there is a relay inside that controlls them unlike the classic witch has a seprate relay for everything! and being a body controll module it controlls everything like windows and lights and everything on the body of the car and more! so thats what made me think it needs repairing but then if the fuse box being knackerd can play with the bcm then thats the cheapest and first port of call! anyways thankyou very much everyone and especialy datatek, very helpfull memeber of the fourm as are all of you! hate it when you get silly replys and conversations that dont relate to your issue! thankyou! tom :D
