I haven't been off-roading before (except for one tutorial day) and I'd like to have a go at something quite gentle to start with. Can anyone recommend a suitable site in the West Midlands or surrounding area?
(I don't want to go greenlaning).

Also, are there any Land Rover Clubs in the West Midlands?

There are a couple of places, the quarry at Avon Dassett is good and you can stick to the easy bits or go and get stuck :), likely to get some light damage if you are not careful.
There is always the one at Long Bucky which is really easy and normally dry, i use it cos it is quiet and a good place to check new equipment or new vehicles, it is a no damage course.
If the site is up and running again you'll find both on Pay N Play and off road sites around the UK
Any probs just give me a shout.

Why not green laning? There are some good lanes in the area to get some practice on.

Has anyone done that Army Experience thingy that keeps trying to advertise on here for free yet :)
Was on my way there on sunday but i've put my back out when fueling up the old girl :-(

ive not done the Army Experience yet. I did attend the P&P In aston Cantlow last week. Was very good. Best £25 ive spent for a while!

Have you been before Busa? OR were you there last week?

Not been to the Army thingy yet, i'm off to Oz on monday so really want to get muddy on sunday, will be driving in the sand in Oz as they are in the middle of a drought.
What are the details for Aston Cantlow?

I dont have the address but i know where it is. Apparently its on the last sunday of every month. So i dont think anything happening this Sunday. I met a guy down the ford who told me about it. Took me an hour to find the damn place. But just turn up, pay £25 and away you go. How long are you in Aus for?
If you wanna go, ill message you before the last sunday of the month and meet you before to show you where it is.

I saw the light on the dash below her window
I saw the flickering shadows of oil on her screen
She was my mistress
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind
My, my, my, delica
Why, why, why, delica
I could see that heap was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free
At break of day when that AA man drove away,
I crossed the street to her house and opened the door
She stood there leaking
I felt the hammer in my hand and she leaked no more
My, my, my delica
Why, why, why delica
So before you break down some more
Forgive me delilah I just couldnt take any more

She stood there leaking
I felt the axe in my hand and she leaked no more
My, my, my, delica
Why, why, why, delica
So before they come to break you some more
Forgive me delica I just couldnt take any more

The off road day, 4x4 in the forest at Cannock Chase is a great place to start off. I have been a few times now and can say it is really enjoyable and not too difficult although you could expect a few scratches. It is a little bit expensive compared to others (£30 for about 2.5 Hours Guided by Forest rangers, although you know that the money will be spent regenerating and repairing the forest). If you go to forestry. gov.uk i think all the details are there.
