My freelander has an issue since about 6 weeks ago after a multi belt replacement at a ‘Land Rover Specialist’.
Since this workshop did not clip the fuel hoses back in place, one got damaged by the crankshaft pulley and caused an air leak.

Received a ‘reduced engine performance’ message just a few miles before getting home. On my driveway, I turned off the car off. And restarted again after a few minutes to check if the message was persistent. It was, so turned the car off and went to bed.

Next morning it wouldn’t start, so I investigated the issue. I found out what was the culprit and repaired the fuel supply line. Primed the system and thought I was good to go…

Since then, not a sign of life except on brake cleaner.

Took her to a local Indy where they investigated a lot and replaced numerous parts: crankshaft sensor + connector, fuel pressure sensor, fuel pressure valve, throttle body, MAF sensor, etc. Fuel pump was send to Bosch for diagnosis. Fuel connections checked (~500 Ohm and tank gauge always steady on 1/2).

DTC’s checked, only B100A-15 is persistent and present since the day I bought the car and drove 1000’s of miles without issues.

Live data gives a cranking speed of ~250 rpm. Fuel rail pressure is about 500 bar. Voltage ~13V.

Everything seems okay. Looks like something is blocking the ECU to fire up the injectors.

In live data, I get a message ’Power supply system start inhibit’ under ‘stop start-feature status-flags’. Can this be the cause and what causes this condition? Anything else?

Any input much appreciated!

Hi, I think the only thing to change are the machanics that work on that car, not the parts.

Does It try to start with brake cleaner ?
Do you hear only the starter and the pulley like it’s running with no fuel ?

Any code ?

Are you sure no air is still getting sucked in through your fix?

I fitted a new water pump to a camper today and all it did was pump air. Another couple of twists on the tank supply connector and she's good as gold.

Thanks for your input gentlemen.

As I wrote it doesn’t start except when feeding brake-cleaner.

It cranks fine and I can hear the compression and no suspicious noises.

As I wrote there is a code: B100A-15. It has shown since the day I bought the car.

There is no air showing in the transparent lines, the pump ball is stiff, the filter is new Purflux, the compete fuel system is primed according LR specs.

I have a common rail fuel pressure from 500-600 bar. =ok
When I undo the injector feed lines to prime, there is fuel under a lot of pressure. =ok
The return lines from the injectors don’t deliver any spill fuel. =the injectors are not opening

I think something is preventing the ecu to allow the injectors to be activated. But what can it be?

Systems checked with SDD
Keys are validated
Red light on dashboard off
Fuel > 1/2 tank

The spill lines are held at 10 Bar by the control solenoid the rail and a pressure regulator in the line before the connection to the filter. If there's no fuel pressure in the spill lines, then the injectors can't inject fuel, as the connection between the piezo stack and injector pintle is a fluid connection using the fuel.
These injectors are very different from a normal common rail injector.

@Nodge68 : thanks for your interesting info!

Is it true that, if the injections get no signal or power, no fuel will come out of the spill line?

Do you know where can I learn more about these injectors to better understand the problem and possible cause?

I am convinced there is very high fuel pressure in the common rail up to the injectors.

The workshop manual has all the information on the injection system.
It's available to download on this forum somewhere.
