I have for sale my 2005 Freelander 1 1.8 Petrol 3 door with removable hard top. 107k ish miles with MOT until February 2024. Great body work and drives reasonably well for a freelander, good interior and no fault lights on the dash. Fitted towbar and freelander specific towbar wiring. HDC works as well.
Head Gasket was replaced earlier in 2023 when it failed and was replaced under warranty. I have also fitted a new coolant header tank as the other was split. 4 good tyres and a brand new spare, I even have the locking wheel nut key which I have recently bought. it also has lockable Thule roofbars which have replaced the ones in the photos.
However it’s not without its foibles, it gets quite hot and the coolant level drops and gets harder to start when it is really hot. Maybe its needs a good bleeding, thermostat replacement or temperature sender. It also gets harder to change gear the hotter it gets, fine when cold or engine off but it needs a forceful push when warm. I did change the clutch hydraulics but it also needs a new bracket as the original one flexes which I suspect is part of the problem, a new bracket is supplied as well as the original hydraulics (LUK).
It really needs someone with the time, space and inclination to deal with the issues and it would be a good runabout, basis for an offroader or for spares. Its got MOT until February 2024.
The reason I am selling is that the wife has said I need something more reliable and driveable so I’ve bought a 110 defender van and don’t have the space for 2 cars.
I have a reasonable idea of what I want for it but willing to take offers.
