Hi all ,
So the time has come to get the wallet out ,
and buy a new set of tyres for my V8 90 , as the originals are as bald as a badgers bottom ,
thing is , i want a bigger set than the 205/80/r16s
that are on it ,
shes sitting on a pretty set of rostyles , which i would like to keep as ive just had them powder coated ,
i fancy a lovely set of bfgoodridge all-terrain 235/85/r16s ,
can anyone give me any technical reasons why i shouldnt go for this size , before i go out and spend my hard earned ever readys ,
any help would be appreciated , :):):)

:nospamhere:

you appear not to want to damage your "pretty" newly powder coated wheels - i assume by this then that the nearest you get to off roading it is parking on a grass verge

just wondering why you dont just get some sensible standard road biased tyres instead of the more aggressive looking BFGs ?

............ ah, i think i have just answered my own question

Thanks for your reply ,
the reason i fancied a bfgoodridge
(a) i do 50% on road , when yes i do the shopping and pick up supplies
(b) and 50% off road , when im on the farm , in sunny devon ! looking after 750 head of cattle
i just wasnt sure on the size ,
and thought id get a sensible answer ,
thanks for nothing !!!!!!!!

rostyles. pretty. on a ninety uugh. put em back on a seventies rangey where they belong.and no there is no reason why you cant fit 235 85 16s on it just put em on some decent rims

205s blimey they are tiny.and rostyle rims well they are about the worst looking rims ever made for a landy,my advive get a package deal on some tyres and steel modulars

sensible answer:hysterically_laughi

you need to get a thicker skin if you wanna stick around on this forum
qs will and do get the **** taken out of them when they desrve it
but the amount of knowledge kicking around this forum has been invaluable to me and will be to you but not if you throw yr toys out of the pram if you dont like the answers you get

Aye. 205's look daft on a 90 they're way too small. Get yerself some 235's on some nice modular wheels and bin the uuuuugly rostyles.

So 235/85/16 stand 32 inches high yes?

85% of 235mm = 200mm = 8 inches.

8 inches x 2 + 16 = 32.

Answered my own question now

You will have no probs fitting 235/85 on a 90 and wheels are a matter of personal choice.
BFG are a good tyre and wear well . They will NOT give you a marked increase in traction off road in the a/t tread pattern . I would go to MT but that is my opinion , they will give the extra mobility off road, but at the expense of some extra on road noise , they are very long lasting, and behave well on road at least beyond the velocity that a diesel can achieve.
I have a set of bfg MT in 235 at about 80% tread for sale at the moment , but have not let this affect the above advice that I have given .

Sorry just noticed its V8 90 , not that it alters much as I have used 235 MT BFG on V8 88 and on my 3.9i 110
