I have a 1995 Disco 3.9 V8i Auto with LPG conversion. When you remove the expansion tank cap and smell the coolant it smells very strongly of petrol almost as stron as if you smell inside the petrol filler! I have had various people suggest it could be anything from the inlet manifold gasket, head gaskets or even pourous block. It doesn't seem to be using much water and I did a 150 mile trip yesterday and the temperature stayed in the middle all the way.
