I have a 02 Disco 2 that overheated due to a lack of coolant and started blowing white smoke. I took the heads off and could see no obvious faults in the gasket. Cylinder 3 looked cleaner than the others. I took the block out, stripped it and got it cleaned, honed and most importantly pressure tested at a local machine shop. The block passed so I put new piston rings on, new gaskets all around, new bearings, crank polished
, heads resurfaces, etc.
I reinstalled the engine and it fired up and ran very well. I also installed an aftermarket temperature guage. The truck has ran at normal temperature and has not overheated. I had to solve a couple of external coolant leaks, just hoses. No external leaks now.
Unfortunately when I start it in the morning there is now a cloud of white smoke. It usually only happens on the fist start up of the day. There is a smell of coolant as well. Have I used a faulty block despite being pressure tested?
Very frustrated, looking for some pointers.
