I have a Td5 discovery witch was an auto but i converted it to a manual. can anyone tell me if the bcu senses a fault with the auto box if it puts the engine ecu into limp mode? I have fitted manual engine ecu ect but i have m and s lights flashing on my dash. The reason i ask id that i have a major lack of power. i have psi power box, big intercooler, blanked egr, itg filter, and straight thru exhaust. and it is guttless. if i unplug the power bo i stuggle to get to 70mph! it is getting very tedious as i have spent alot of money now. someone please help me. Dan

What engine ECU and body ECU have you got? are they both from the original vehicle?

The Auto box has an ECU but there's not one for the manual, so somewhere along the line there has to be changes made via testbook to set the engine/BCU/SLABS ECU's up for manual operation.

The engine ECU is in fact different on an auto, see:

I have fitted a manual engine ecu. cruise control works ect. but i just have these to flasing m and s lights on the dash. i an bidding on a bcu from a manual on ebay. but would the bcu cause it to be down on power i thought i may have set the engine ecu into a limpmode or somthing. i have removed the automatic transmission ecu from under the seat. I believe that you need to get the ECU/BCU synched up again, so that all the systems are working with the new setup, and this will probably need to be done by Testbook.

The limp-home modes tend to be caused by engine related faults, the auto box had its own box to give faults out, but as far as I know and from reading the manual, the engine ECU is largely on its own.

Auto ecu does have the facility for cruise control or surge damping. and you cannot recalibrate the ecu from auto to manual i have tried. I have full access to testbook T4 and it doesnt allow you to reconfigure the bcu form auto to manual. their are CLASS and NON CLASS options transmisson is not selectable. So i am going to try a bcu from a manual hopefully. I unplugged the airflow sensor last night and went for a drive power did improve slightly. but not as it should be still! Bloody Td5's why did i buy one!
