Evening all, new member here. Purchased a disco 2 TD5 manual last week. Superb machine. Having a hoke under it earlier I found quite a bit of fluid leaking from drivers side of gearbox. I took a pic and there is a spongey material on the drivers side of gearbox which is saturated in the fluid. It's then dripping onto a white pipe connected to the transfer box and also running down to lower side of gearbox.

I apologise for the first few posts being about a problem of mine but I hope to contribute more in future!

The first thing to determine is whether it's engine oil or gearbox oil.
If it's engine oil then the next place to check is down at the back of the rocker cover in case it's leaking from there and running down the back of the engine.
Another place where the engine might be leaking is from the rear crank shaft seal, but that's a whole world of hurt to fix, engine or gearbox out and clutch and flywheel off just to get at it.
Best thing to do is to try to clean off what you already have and then watch to see where it's coming from.

Cheers for response, have left a bit of white board under it tonight so will get an idea tomorrow morning of amount and extent

I'm scared now. Haha.

Thanks all. Chap I bought it from said he had replaced the gearbox less than 2000 miles ago (receipts to prove) - this may be something to do with things given the area of the leak?

This is damage this morning. I should say that's the board pulled out from under the car, same position front to rear, just pulled out directly sideways. Not sure if that helps at all lol
