I had my Disco gear lever out over the holidays and while I was in there I had a play with the diff lock linkage.
All the time I have has the car (nearly a year now) I have never had the diff lock light come on.
The little bolt on top of the linkage was floppy so I tightened that up to minimise play.
Opperating the diff lock lever it pulls the diff lock quadrant off, to the left, OK. It only pushes the quadrant on the transfer box half way when trying to engage the diff lock. The quadrant moves easily when I stick my hand down between the gearbox and the bodywork.
The long bit of linkage that is vertical looks like it could be a bit bent.
Is it supposed to be bent?
If I take it off and bash it straight is that likely to cure it?
What's it called if I want to buy a new one?
Shall I just crawl under and engage the diff lock manually on the very odd occasion I want to use 4WD. No scrap that, it's going to be snow or mud if I need 4WD.
