Hi,

it seems that my dicovery develooped a new problem..... The diff lock won't disengage when I pull the lever to the right. The light will go off for some reason..... Has anyone expeienced something like this before? Is even possible that the light will turn off, but the cdl wil not dissengage?

What would be the best solution?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi, how do you know that it's actually stuck locked? the switch is actuated by the selector fork so once the light is off means that the fork made it's move... very strange

Can we take it that you have done all you are supposed to do as re the handbook? Pulling the lever over only partly disengages it, you need often to drive a bit in reverse to get it to pop out.

Others have other means of doing it .

Surprisingly I have just looked at the manual and it does only say "move the lever to the right", silly heifers!!

Simple. I have disconnected both drive shafts, and the transfer case is locked. Front and rear outputs move at the same speed. Besides, car struggles to go in corners on hard surface.

If it’s “wound up” the selector may move the fork changing the light but does the gear move? I was led to believe its sort of spring assist to move out.

Take it on a grassy area and give it some bean forwards and backwards.

Or confirm it is actually still locked by other means, like jacking a wheel up ;) .

Are they really locked?
have you tried to lock 1 and turn the other?

I have also tried jacking up one wheel before removing the driveshafts. It's locked. Also, driving on grass and mud, and moving lever from left to right doesn't do anything. I have also checked if there is any free play on linkage, but there isn't.

Also, the linkage moves left to right by moving lever.

If reversing then quickly going forward a few times doesn't free it off then you have a more serious problem.
Can we ask what you were doing when it was in diff lock?
Otherwise it looks as if you will have to take the transfer box off and investigate further.

From what has been said above, I would have to agree it’s close to having to take it off.
the LT230 is a pretty strong box tbh.

Find a manual online and download it, not sure what you could see by just removing the sump. (Not got manual handy on this device)

But pls let us know how it goes.
