anyone know where i can buy detroit locker spares, ive stripped the teeth off one of the cogs inside after breaking an half shaft:doh: could do with getting it back in action asap
yeh thought of that but detroits based in america, was hoping to find somewhere in england that supplied parts preferably close to me but its looking like i might have to go direct to detroit, going to give crown differentials and ashcroft transmisions a ring tommorow first though, fingers crossedbit of a stab in the dark but have you tried the manufacturer
i bought it second hand off ebay, had it in a while now though, ive rang round everywhere today and no ones got parts for them as they very rarely break, only place that can get one (dog clutch)is crown diffs but it'll be while and not cheap, proper gutted cos theres a p&p day this weekend i really wanted to go to so if anyone can help locate a new dog clutch or cheap locker i would greatly appreciate itAshcrofts I believe they stopped supplying them a while back for rover axles because of a fault might be worth a shout where did you but it from?
you've lost mehave a look up there^^^^^^^^^^^^
yeh they normally go for that around here to,had one in in my last 90 what got stolen, really good diffs, what caused my detroit to fail was a half shaft snapping(i had standard half shafts in:dohapperently when a half shaft snaps it puts a shock load on the clutch on that side which either causes a fracture or as in my case the teeth get stripped,%99 of the time thats the cause of a detroit locker failing, ive managed to get hold of some h/d shafts so hopefuuly wont happen again, ive got on open diff centre in the shed just dont want to keep having to strip the diff outFor Sale section 4 Pin diffs go for around £250 in these parts for a known goodun £150 for an unknown one and still an open diff. Might aswell use a cheapo till you fix your detroit and just not spin up opposite wheels or drop a spinning wheel against the ground
