Defender transfer box - low miles

I want to say it was 46kg without the drum but that just popped into my head, it was night freight that collected it cos of the weight but it wasn't palleted, just wrapped in bubble wrap etc.

I'd have said about 55kg after handling one with the drum on it and having to mate it to the gearbox.

I'd even go as far as to say the R380 box is lighter than the transfer box but that may have just been as it was so much easier to carry

I'd say 55 was more like it. It's not just the weight but the awkwardness of it, I'm booked in at the chiropractor this week!

You're all soft, transfer case is an easy enough lift, trolley jack where the drain plug is, one man to keep her steady and another to guide her in and she fits without too much drama.

Not as difficult as I expected tbh seeing as gearbox and transfer on the trolley jack was a right swine, not much worse than using an engine crane from the top tbh!

I fitted mine with little more than a plank of wood over the axles, was a right bastard but worth it

You know what James I have to disagree, I had such a bugger getting the box in/out with the transfer on yet the transfer on its own was pretty easy IMO!

.......but remember I am the Gayest of all the Gay Disco Drivers and I drive a Big Gay Disco!

I'll get my Butler to phone "the car man".

I just slung it through and round with a strap, wasn't bad but I found it less awkward just lifting it from underneath with 1 trolley jack and 2 lads, less messing about I guess.

Definitely less stressful for a first timer with it slung but second time round we weren't that scared of it, and then third time was just the transfer and as above that was proper easy :)

Hey did this all go through? If not - I'll take this hands off your hands quick as you like. I've been looking for well over a year for a decent box :)
