As above, taken from my 2006 Td5, recently removed at 25k miles only, this can be verified, no problems with the box at all, I changed it for a discovery 1.2 ratio

Serial number 43D129373G

£150

The one I put on was from a 300Tdi, not sure what year but probably 99 ish, runs perfect, it'd done about 90k. I had to swap the speedo sensor and the handbrake cable+cover over, other than that it was dead easy, best mod I've done yet.

y0 y0 y0 noisy's in the house

Urm I assume this would bolt in similarly.

It's gonna be a great box to fit to yours rob because it will be so fresh, kinda suits!!

Once you get yours on the floor you can swap over any dissimilar parts, looks like it might have a temp sensor in view there which the older casings dont have but you will just leave that disconnected.

Defo a good shout IMO, despite the fact that its £100 more than the cheapest options, you don't need to spend any money on it or time rebuilding etc.

Let me know if any further advice required :)

I'm very interested.

Can you PM me where "the outskirts of Notts" as it seems like a damn big county. Daft thing was, I was up at Donnington Race Track last week for the Download Festival.

My parents live in Stoke so it may be possible to nip across when we are up next - might not be until August though.

I'll drop a post in LZ Couriers too.

I will need to drop by my mechanics to hear his thoughts on it.

Take care.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the PM.

Can I put "first dibs" on it until I've spoken to my mechanic - I'm a pussy and never do jobs like this myself.

I've posted in LZ Courier to see is anybody is passing.

Where did you get the Disco Tbox? Was it posted/couriered? How much did it cost to be posted/couriered?

Fingers crossed my mechanic says it's easy. I'll be in touch soon.

I couriered a transfer case the other day without brake drum for 18 quid off parcel monkey.

No point sending the drum might aswell ditch that, weighs too much and you have one already.

Other than that rob it's a really easy job to change on of these so your man shouldn't break a sweat :)

First dibs - no problem. I fetched my tx box, met up at the show in Harrogate. I'd be surprised if your guy couldn't swap it over in a few hours, as long as you can get at the box it's easy enough. I'd never swapped one before either, but as long as you've got a ramp or a pit you'll be ok, see what turns up courier wise mate. Cheers

I've had a chat with my mechanic and he agrees 2.0/2.5 hours. He did say to check the number of splines (and then the world went very black) and I agreed to ask. I guess that's where it bolts onto the gearbox. Could you do a tally sometime and let me know?

If the number matches, consider it sold. :)

I know it aint an ebay sale but this link shows who you are dealing with - 100% for nigh on ten years. eBay My World - auf_wiedersehen_pet

I like the idea of parcel monkey at £18. Noisy - did you have to use a pallet?

all lt230s fit identically ,there are no spline differences either

The drum is from a disco because I swapped mine over, they are slightly deeper than the defender drum, so you may as we'll have that too, then decide which one is better. Let me know how you go on with the courier, cheers

I'll get my wife to organise a courier - are you able to strap it on a pallet if required?

I don't suppose you know the weight do you? If not, I'll give Noisy a shout to see what his weighed.

Are td5 output flanges different?as I thought they were- a swap over:bolt: feel free to correct me if having a moment as I'm sure disco2 front flange is different

It will fit, and I have no problem strapping it to a pallet for collection. I'll send you a pm after corrie with my details, cheers.
