stolen on Thursday from car park 1 at Birmingham airport. Last seen by the auto number plate recognition cameras on the M42.
Ncp totally useless, but the police were very helpful. Apparently this was the second defender from there in a month so beware.
We only owned it for three weeks and are absolutely gutted, it was such a tidy car.

Just out of interest - did you leave the parking ticket thing in the defender or isnt it a ticketed car park?

Just wondering, if they had to go and say they lost their ticket and pay a fine to get out it would be highly suspicious to NCP and normally involves filling in a form with personal details therefore maybe suggest a bit of an inside job cus someone could just let them out for free in the middle of the night...?

I think yu need to see a lawyer! If yu have entered into a contract with NCP to "look after" your landy, i reckon yu have a valid claim against them for the full value of the vehicle.
Breach of contract.

Guess that's the other suspicious bit. Who did you buy it off. The seller could have held onto a spare set of keys and left a tracker in it, realised it was in a long stay car park so easy to nick and just drove it away...

is all bollocks, you just have to write your name and address (or someone elses) on a form with the make model and reg saying you're the legal owner, pay the daily rate (or whatever) for lost ticket and away you go. Don't even ask for ID. Even if they did, I'm sure some ID with the queens face on it would solve the problem.

They are supposed to check the details, but never have I ever seen them do it.

Gutted, had the ticket (was in Germany at the time) with the reg no on it, keys in my pocket, mrs had spare set at home in Oxford, was bought from James French so a good company not dodgy. Had just paid £1700 for extras which are now at the garage waiting for my blooming landy to show up!
Police been as helpful as they could be, but yep we think too it was probably an inside job, been parking my Disco there for a year with no problem, defender been there two weeks in a row and the third week it was pinched. Really gutted but don't know if I want it back IF they find it.... Second defender that's been stolen from brum airport recently - valet parking from now on.
May soon have snorkel, steering protector, a bar and lights for sale!

Is there no CCTV at the car park? at the very least on the exit and entry?

Am i correct in thinking that the only way to start a TD5 without the key is to either fit a reprogrammed ECU or use a diagnostic computer to get the emergency code? either way it's not a quick job to start on up without the keys

Guy who stole,my landy from airport just been caught ! Hooray ok a year or so late. Appears to have stolen a number of others. No idea what happened to mine though.

Sit in the public gallery at the trial they'll read his name and address out in court. Once they do that it's public information and anyone can publish it anywhere they want (bar any reporting restrictions imposed by the judge) :D

So far as we know he's being done for stealing 6/7 landys - i'll know more in a few weeks if there were any other makes. I think he was caught in the act... oops

nice one, good result!
