1 or 2 thou liner protusion would be std for wet liners or hot spots any thing that needed to be held by head clamping pressure more wouldnt be a good idea

Yes that's pretty much what the writer said. Interestingly, he seemed to have a great deal of faith in the standard iron liners.

So would the turbo really give the cooling system more heat to chew on then? What would it do to fuel economy (just out of curiosity.)

The injuns go for between £500-550 on ebay with pretty low milages. Interesting indeed.

Look at rover 75 consumption? It'd generate more heat,

It'd be an interesting project! Everyone will shout head gasket. But who cares, it'd be great fun and easy to bolt in!

Just had a thought! You could put one in to stop your cooling issues and make your ewp work spot on! Need to learn to drift it round roundabouts though:D

One thing the bloke said in that article was that almost flush liners are preferable with only 1 or 2 thou proud like mine were.

If I remembers correctly, Landrover changed the dimension in one of their docs - think they increased the liner protusion to 5 thou.

Liners/head etc Liner height 0.075mm(0.003 in) (This figure varies in some literature but they should all be the level), max head warpage 0.05 mm (0.002 in). Refacing limit 0.20 mm (0.0008 in).

I refer you to Technical bulletin 0036 & 0026. You might like to read http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f37/liner-replacement-1-8-petrol-60710.html

I still reckon 220T series turbo. Much more robust

I think we're all agreed there, I just want to troll people by wowing them with a tuned K series :D!

Perhaps I can have the 1.8T and DD can stick a 220T in his :hysterically_laughi. You'be eating all sorts for breakfast with that! But it would turn it into a rally car, but in many ways I think that's what the FL is more suited to.

There is also the slight issue of the Getrag gearbox, just how much torque can it handle? Sounds like the injuns are easy enough to tune if you the cash but the transmission has to be able to take it!
