Guys i hope someone could help ! i was fiddling with led strips so that they light up when i switch on the headlamps. i used the centre window switch light to make this work. once i finished, everything was working fine suddenly the led strips, switch light and dash lights arent working now. fuses are all fine
Thanks in advance !

Did you check continuity of involved fuses, eventually replaced them or just looked to them? a fuse can always have a hairline fracture in it which is not visible so better be 100% it's good

Yes i checked them with a meter twice ! should i be looking at a relay on the passenger side ?

run a diagnostic protocol on the MFU to rule it out, concentrate on the red part

Close all doors and the tailgate. NOTE: If the oil pressure switch goes open circuit (engine is started) during the following procedure, the MFU will exit the diagnostic mode immediately.

Press and hold the heated rear screen switch and switch on the ignition.
Release the heated rear screen switch within 2 seconds and the MFU will beep to indicate that it's in diagnostic mode 1.
Press the heated rear screen switch; the MFU will beep twice. In turn, operate each of the following switches, heated front screen, rear fog guard lamps, side lights, headlights, front wiper, and rear wiper. The MFU will beep twice each time a switch is operated.
Pressing the heated rear screen again will cause the MFU to enter diagnostic mode 2.

The MFU will provide outputs to the following in order given below:
Heated rear screen relay energized for 2 seconds
Heated front screen energized for 2 seconds
Courtesy lights energized for 2 seconds
Dim dip relay energized for 2 seconds
Rear fog guard lamp energized for 2 seconds
Headlamp power wash energized for half a second
Front wiper energized for half a second
Rear wipe/wash energized for half a second

The MFU will then exit the diagnostic mode

explain exactly how did you wire those leds
so i took out the centre window switch the one shown in picture and with a meter i checked where i would have the 12 volts when i switch on the headlamps. then i just connected the leds to those pins according to the polarity

AAAha, i understand now... unfortunately the D1 diagrams i have are quite simplified and can't see the wire colour which gives the feed from the fusebox to the switch illumination circuit... the headlights are working normally?

yes yes headligths are fine thank god !
i think i wont manage to do the diagnostic cause i think the rear heating screen switch doesnt work :/

forget the MFU then, go to C208 and see if there is 12V on pin 14(red/orange wire) from here the feed goes to all the switch illumination circuits comihg from fuse F8...pics attached

ok will do this and get back to you :) i got another problem, when i leave the drivers door open i turn the key to ignition without starting the engine, the car goes crazy. the front and rear wipers, healights waterpump and rear window water pump. they start working all together :/ could it be some kind of loose ground ?

it means that tye diagram i've seen is wrong then... what i agree is that the lighting switch must be on off course as the interior illunmination is through it as well
