hello everybody
My defender TD5 is at the agent workshop for a series of works and general maintenance and one of them was to change the belt. My mechanic told me that I have to change the crankshat pulley. He showed me , using a sort of long crobar, some play in a sort of damper on the engine side.
As the damn thing cost 1000 euro according to him and as it is built with damper i have 2 questions;
Does anyone have his sort of experience before?
If such a thing has to be changed can't it be fixed by changing the damper or whateverever part could be damaged.

I do not not know if I made myself clear but I hope so

not really fixable ,hub that sits over crank is joined to pulley by rubber damper they can perish/crack causing pulley to become loose /wobbly /vibrate/knock as said should feel stiffly springy
