Hi everyone, good to meet you all

i bought myself a discovery 2 recently which i love, ive been under the bonnet trying to cure the dreaded front end rattles.

ive replaced the serpentine belt and tensioner and the rattle is better, all the pulleys seem fine but i need advice on the crankshaft pulley/damper.

Is it normal for the rear pulley to rotate independently of the damper, mines moving (rotating) approximatly 30 degrees back and forth and clonks metal on metal when it stops.

appreciate any help..

I agree.... the two parts are suposed to be bonded together by the rubber.... it acts as a vibration shock absorber.

I replaced mine following the above linked instruction. Worked well:)
