Cleaning components

I'm in the process of fulling rebuilding my 200tdi, I will be sending the block and large bits to my mechanic who has a large cleaner.





I'm wondering what's the best way to clean the auxiliaries, for example my injector pump is caked with mud and I'm a little nervous about cleaning it.





Any tips are welcome.

bung holes and steam clean it or wash it

Finally got around to cleaning it tho I only had 5 minutes then got a call from work.



Once I get all the **** off it and back to shiny metal is it safe enough leaving it like that or should I do something to protect it?

Dish washers are good but don't get caught!

DO NOT put an injector pump in the dishwasher!
Soften the mess up with diesel, then rinse off with brake cleaner.

Hehe yeah lol, I've got the homes covered up while cleaning. I was just wondering if it's ok to leave the metal bare after cleaning or should I treat it?

Mosts of it is alloy so should not require any treatment.

Gave it another hour last night

Started cleaning the timing belt cover but have a little trouble cleaning the areas that are heavily pitted, any tips or shall I just keep scrubbing away with the drill and cleaning pads

i just have at it with a pressure washer when it's in the vehicle, trying to avoid leccies

Oven cleaner, but have to say you do realise you are wasting your time as it will just end up filthy again?

I just want to give it a good clean so I can spray it silver for a nice smooth finish

I used a wire wheel attached to the drill it took me days to clean all the parts
but it was worth it
