Hi all,
...and Happy New Year!! - late I know

So after:
- my rapid purchase prep of a Freelander 2 for daughter #1
- an extensive (4 weeks) bout of Covid

I've managed to get back to my projects and more specifically the 4.2 RRS that had misfire issues.

I had dismantled it all prior to Christmas and worked out that:
The S/C looks to be new/refurbed - no wear on the impellors ? (spinny bladey things) and the oil was new and not smelly (that's £28 quid wasted on an oil change kit!)

There was a non-denso injector on cylinder 5 which is where *most* of the misfire codes are coming from but more importantly some loon had trapped the fuel pipe that runs between banks under the supercharger which was undoubtedly causing uneven running and misfires.

As I had all the injectors out I decided to invest in one of the injector clean/test machines which actually was really good - I accept it's probably not as good as something costing 10x as much but I was able to carry out extensive cleaning at 'live-run' type pressures which produced a noticeable improvement in spray pattern.
I also was able to volume check them over time which although initially inconsistent improved as the cleaning fluid did its stuff and in the end they were all within a gnats tooth of each other (within the limitations of my cheap machine)
Only observation as you can see is the recommended injector cleaner is a bit foamy and takes a while to settle to get a good reading

So wind forward to this weekend just gone and I put it all back together - new gaskets everywhere. Fitting the lower rhs rear bolt to the throttle body elbow is a complete ****! And did I have to do it twice as I bolted the S/C in place before the air coolers...

However, when starting it bursts into life but wont idle. If I apply some throttle I can keep it going and it sounds so much better than previously but I've obviously not put something back together properly. I will stick a smoke tester on next weekend, but in the interim are there any obvious gotchas I should look for? I'm wondering about the throttle body.

Any thoughts?

It may apply, I may be wrong but just go over everything you've touched. If your confident it went back together correctly it could be something as simple as that 😎👍

Just been looking at LR diagrams online - and can’t see one - but as I spent huge amounts of time lying on my front across the engine to refit everything- I may have missed something in my excitement to reassemble!
I am suspecting the throttle body - which I thoroughly cleaned…..
