Good morning all.

the shock absorbers on my '92 classic are shot, so I need a new set.
I've been looking around ebay and elsewhere, and there's quite a wide range of prices.
does anyone have a recommendation of for a good brand & model?

I'm guessing britpart aren't the one to go for ... how about armstrong or monroe or terrafirma?

thanks

Just fitted new gas monroe shocks to the LSE and for most surfaces they are fine. On smooth twisty roads they have improved the ride no end. The compromise comes on the really bad sections of tarmac where they tend to be a bit harsh. Almost like they work too well with no rebound, but I guess that is the compromise with gas shocks.

Island 4x4 are doing armstrongs for £9 at the moment and at that price you could try them out and throw them away if you don't like them.

Word of caution if the shocks have been on a long time. You will need some heat for the bolts and I had to replace the mounts as the bushes had welded themselves onto the rears and left the bush behind when I pulled the shocks off.
