Quick update but not fixed just yet...

Doug has built me a reconditioned EBCM and has tested it and its working fine, he did try my old EBCM on his test vehicle and the same faults accured on the test vehicle ie, horns blasting, headlights on main beam and hazzrd warning lights flashing so it appears the original fault was 100% EBCM

but

The secondary fault that i created was accidentally shorting the brown and green wire from the fuse box to EBCM causing a few sparks, since i did that the original fault above and now an additional fault of the rangie turning over but no firing up and no dash at all ie nothing no lecd no nowt....

But

After checking a few things tonight and awaiting Doug coming tomorrow with my EBCM i have found MAXIFUSE 1 60a one has blown hope this might be the cause of the non firing up and the dash being off as well, fingers crossed anyway....

Tomorrow will tell the tale when doug gets here and fits the EBCM

Ok guys i thank you all for your well wishes unfortuantley its a second no go let me explain...

Doug came from nottingham to Durham for a secong time today and just to recap my issue orginally was... i was driving along and the horns decided to just blast by themselves along with main beam and hazzard warning flashers going, turned out the O rings have drenched the carpet and corroded the EBCM but while i was diagnosing the fault and checking fusebox and alarm unit i managed to short the brown/green 10mm terminal under the fuse box to earth (goes direct to ebcm) on a body bracket causing a split second of sparks, as i had battery still connected...the original fault the car still ran but after i shorted the 10mm terminal out the rangie would not fire, it would turn over but no fire and no dash display in led bit ethier.. so now i had two issues the lights and horn indicators etc,,,, and then the non start and no dash yeah...

Doug came up two weeks ago to fix the EBCM but he had the wrong componests..and had to return to nottingham with my ebcm and had rebuilt and recoded a new reconditioned unit for me and was coming to mine again today to fit and set it up..

I got to thinking i had two faults now and checked all sorts and found i had blown the MAXIFUSE 1 60A one as said above i replaced that and hoped that was the cause for the non start as it was one of the live feeds to the ebcm module...

So this brings us today, Doug arrived and fitted the fully working and tested ebcm onto my car and hey presto no horns no high beam and non hazzard warning flashers going he coded the keys in and sinced all stuff, so far so good....

Went to start it and NON START again engine is cranking over but no fire not even trying so what have we tested and what where am i now.....

To be honest im thinking i should cut my losses and scrap it...But im still undecided to be fair.. but what we have established today is this..

1, EBCM is fully working and ok
2, Fuel pump and relay etc all ok
3, All fuses and relays ok and tested
4, All power and voltage reading to EBCM are perfect
5, All in cabin eleactrics working ok (even dash Lcd display is back working)
6, All readings and feed back from engine ecu via Dougs software seem spot on
7. All keys sinked in and EKA codes ok and working

Doug has said everything he has tested and whats coming back from his software tells him there are no faults no fault codes and no readings at all to say it wont start, but there is NO SPARK when engine is cranked over, fuel pump was remote tested via software on lap top and it kicked in ok...

To say im totally ****ed off is another word and putting in lightly to be honest ive had this car 20 days and its been goosed 16 of them ive drove it 21 miles in total...

Now Doug has advised me it could be the fuse box internal board has blown i stripped the fuse box down while he was there and we cant see a fault but cant split the two boards apart to check properly he thinks that me shorting the 10mm brown/green wire on underside of fusebox which blew Maxifuse no1 might of damaged the fuse box as the main engine ecu is getting feedback and correct readings via his software...its a shot in the dark type thought but mabe worth a go....

I do feel its time to wash my hands of it right now though but im going to try the fuse box i think first

So im looking for a 100% known to be good engine bay fusebox for a thor engined 4.6 on a 1999 model year if you have one i can borrow or bu please get in touch asap please

was looking at the razor blades in garage today and thinking might need them soon...

thanks for listening guys and maybe if you can add your opinions im alway open to constructive comments....

im sorry to hear your news , I'm no sparky but I presume you have checked power to coils as you say there is no spark just a suggestion ...

You may have tried this but you don't mention it in the post - you did re-sync the ECU to the BeCM right??

I know it may sound like sucking eggs and Doug knows his mustard so I am sure he did, but it's not mentioned...!!

Sorry to hear of your continued problems Rob, but it is such a grand looking motor - shame to scrap it, it really is a looker!

SAINT V8...hi as far as i am aware Doug did sync the keys correctly as i have a brand new key as well which he did too.. to be fair im 99% sure he went round the block three or four times as he did not want to go home again not getting the rangie started... he might pop in a nd confirm his work as to be fair when it came to the computer stuff i let him crack on with it but he did say he had tried everything he could at the time, he is a good bloke...

DATATEK How do you check power to the coils mate sorry if its a dumb question just not sure...

Rob

Rob

Sync the keys is not the same as sync the BECM to the engine ECU.
Voltmeter on the supply to the coils I would guess, I don't know the V8 but that applies to the petrols I have.

Im going to tr a fusebox on as Doug mentioned that arcing the terminal on the body bracket blew fuse 1 (maxifuse 60A) and fears this might of blown the board in the fuse box, his thoughts are this...if i arced the the 10mm terminal on the underside of the fuse box which i did as it touched the abs bracket and sparked with the fuse being on the otherside of the the board (ie the short has to travel through the terminal then the board to the fuse on the top which it blew) if its blown the fuse on the top it might of blown a track on the fuse box on its way to the fuse..Does that make sense ???

He tested all feeds from the fuse box to the EBCM and said it all checks out fine from the fuse to EBCM but still no start,, it might possibly be a an engine ecu as well ?? but again he said fuse box is a cheaper option and feared all the results coming back from the software for the engine ecu tests are or seem to be fine, ie the ecu let him do the key and imobaliser coding or something etc etc...

Sorry guys if my information is **** but its just not my field and to be fair im lost off and fed up with it to boot....

But its you guys that is keeping me going with it as if i got no help and information i would of got shot for sure already, i thank you all for that and i apprieciate all who have had input and helped me so far thank you to you all....

Hope i can get it sorted thats all....

Datatek...would a sync problem still allow the engine to turn over and not fire or would the sync problem basically kill the engine cranking too... Rob
