Chassis repair advice

Hi again guys, I need of some advice on how to do a chassis repair on my 90. The area in question is under neath the bump stops, they are rusted right through on both sides

What I'm wondering is how you would go about repairing it, I have a friend who can weld well but the question is how would you patch it? I'm thinkin cut the rust out and treat the metal, then just weld a new bump stop bracket on over the hole but I concerned about if this would be strong enough? Cheers guys

If your friend can weld confidently ( he is welding up over his head ) then plate the hole first then weld on new bump stop brackets. Then fill chassis with dinitrol or similar.
