Hi all,
What differences are there between the 200tdi and 300tdi chassis?
I know about engine mounts, but is there other differences?

I'm asking as I've been shipped the wrong chassis by a supplier, and I'm considering if its just the engine mounts to lop them off my original chassis and weld them on. I should just refuse it and make them send what I ordered, but its taken so long to even get the wrong chassis delivered, if its just the engine mount differences, I'll do it myself.

I was trying to get ahead of this ready for monday but the supplier has contact me out of hours today and told me that their platform is a common chassis with different engine mounts + crossmember between the two. They're sending me out a set of new engine mounts to suit the 200tdi + and the right crossmember and I'll take the engine mount positions from my old chassis & weld them on myself and cold galv spray the area & t-wash/paint it and treat it internally with wax. I was going to do the por15/internal wax anyway.
Not ideal as they're getting off light, but sending it back international & getting another one shipped would be a nightmare for both & more delays and I need the pallet racking space back the orphaned lumps of 90 are on.

The cold zinc spray is pretty good, in your case I would buy the most expensive you can get.

Which manufacturer was it? If you ordered a 200Tdi and they sent the wrong chassis, they should pick up the cost of returning it and sending the right one.

It was Shielder, they knew it was their mistake and they were willing to exchange it and pay the costs incurred, but I've already waited weeks to get to the stage of forklifting it off the delivery lorry so I asked about the differences and suggested the option of altering it here to save time. They were also willing to pay for a workshop locally to do the mount change for me, but I prefer to do it myself.

As for why Sheilder given their occasionally spotty online rep, the answer is import nonsense and paperwork from Richardson or other mainland UK suppliers (Sheilder is NI and covered by the undertakings so can sell into the EU without this).
Maer couldn't sell me one direct when I contacted them for a shipping quote as they have a French exclusive distributor and call me old fashioned, but that distributor should be professional and advertise & post the price of something without having to send private messages on facebook. People aren't stupid, they already know the public price as Maer themselves publish the price ex works, and they know that logistics and transport costs money, so I have no idea why they think this is good business practice.
The distributor might be ok, but I've had some really bad experiences with a different supplier here and it just reminded me of that whole experience. I just want to know up front what the cost of something is, and take payment and deliver it on x date and we'll unload it this end, and that's what Shielder offer. Its just unfortunate they cocked up their end and shipped the wrong chassis but its in train of being fixed quickly.

Update, the replacement engine mounts + 200 tdi crossmember finally turned up this week. Its all marked up and I'm doing a dry build to verify everything and I've sawn up the oversized pallet into two because it was in the way, so no going back now.

I looked at my notes and its been 5 and a half months from sending the "I want to buy this" mail to actually getting to the point when I have the chassis + the right parts. If we took longer than 5 working days to deliver something paid in full to a customer at where I work we'd be out of business in a quarter! But its a different world I guess, and maybe my disenchantment with the whole purchase will fade with time while working on a nice clean new chassis. Never again though.
