Try the interior light wiring or direct to Battery.

where have you got the co-ax running to

Most peeps run em to the back of the CB.

I have a TD5 Disco and want to fit a CB.

The question is WHERE?

You Disco guys with CBs, send me a pic of where you fitted the damned things!
PLEASE.

if yu have an electric sunroof - in front of that.

If yu have a slimline CB - then above the sun visor or between seat and centre console.

else behind centre console.

Always wire it to the ACC circuit on the ign switch (or a circuit driven from it, such as the radio) .

So I take it that somewhere flush, or discreet, isn't an option?
It's a lousy design of cab and dash.

yup - discrete is poss - in front of the lecky sunroof or above the sun visor - both places in the roof console dont look to bad. Pikey used to have a link to the sunroof fit some where on anuvva site.

i ment the coax is already there so where it stops would we a good place for the cb.
cousin has a cb in his disco its on the passenger side of the of the gearbox/footwell

You can't use a radio aerial to run a cb. Well not without frying it anyway. Yu have to run ya own coax for a CB. pref 50ohm coax. RG8 is good.

I run mine from the fag lighter. Found a socket up the shed, run it to a connector block then a inline fuse then to the CB. Then wedge the CB beetween passanger seat and the cubby box.

Compeletly removable as it is not used alot. Alot of people will say you get inteferance from the fag lighter... If you do it is negligible and from memory the SWR was quite low.

Plus i can move it from car to car with minimal hassal.

pink writin plays havoc in this kinda light  :p

Ooh some nice ideas here.

I didn't realise there was power up there - will have to use that for something. Maybe my blue tooth gps or a blue tooth handsfree for my phone (or both)

Not sure about putting a CB up there, would feel too much like a trucker!!!!

IFAIK car radio coax is fine for CB - it probably is RG58 which is 50ohm

RG8 is a bit thick - a real bugger to fit PL259 's to. Or did you mean RG58??

RG58 is also the old coax networking cable.....I always used that as I had tons of it. Still have somewhere.

I just to freak out some more people - you can use your radio aerial as a CB aerial as well - though not directly. You need some matching coils.
I used to have a switch box on mine to switch between FM and CB. It worked great and was certainly good enough for local contacts an convoys.

Though that was with a wing mounted electric aerial - no idea how the crappy window thing in a Disco would work. I'm sure it would be good enough for convoy/laning.

I'm going to dig in the loft tomorrow and see how big my CB is - it might fit in that sunroof gap :D
