What is a snatch bracket?
One that you fix the base and with th radio attached to the other part you slide one into the other.

All connections for power, speakers and aerial are sound.

Jeez! Am I the only one around who is old enough to remember the illegal CB's and how to prevent them from being nicked?? :D

yes that is my design,

although i am thinking riv-nuts might be a more secure solution that pop rivets...

tell you what ,that is a blinding solution. When i've finished welding me sliders the weekend i will look in to doing that, if you do yours first let us have some pics.

What about self tapping screws, or would they pull through after a while. Is the roof bar ally or steel, where in the roof is it.

hmm could try self tapping screws, but i reckon they would pull though, it is ally i THINK.

see the pic of my landy below, see the three spars running across the roof behind the spotlights? thats what i am on about (driling up through the roof INSIDE one of them)

EDIT: ACTUALY if yours is a TD5 you might not have the ribs...

I thought the bar was between head lining and roof. My 90 has'nt got those on the roof, but i guess it should have some support under the lining some where.
Will investigate over weekend.

I mounted my fold down LCD display through the mount for the rear view mirror. its stable but I thought if it was to ever be unsteady I would rivit a top hat piece to secure it more steady.

Only Early 90's/110's had external ribs later defenders went to a smooth roof I guess after 1993 or 1994 or there abouts.

Rich my 90 was earned I took the gearbox out and then I had to take it away. no engine no gearbox and everything half stripped. Plus why are we letting riff raff in the 90/110 section? hehe

Seriously I'd love an old std series motor to mess about with but I'll have to make do with the old series 1 trialer thats being rebuilt so very slowly

I got a Landy.....I go where I like :cool::D

Though admittedly not quite as comfortably as you do ;)

Doh tried to link a pic of the trialer not having none of it!

Its in reconrovers.com in me sig and a series 11a rebuild I added a counter to the website and its had nearly 100 hits I thought it were only me lookin at it.

Johny/geof mounted my cb to the roof yesterday too dark now but will get a pic tomorrow, there is a steel reinforcement bar on the inside that goes from door pillar to door pillar right along the edge of where the front roof headlining finnishes, if you haven't got rear roof lining you should be able to see it, I just drilled a small hole in it and put self tappers in,i can still remove cb from mount just means the cb sits just behind my head a bit.

Got mine mounted on the fuze box cover panel infront of gear stick using the standard mounting bracket.

Easy wire in as close to the battery box, easy to get to and see, speaker is clear and rig pops out in seconds.

Works for me.
