hi all, as much as i love my 300 disco the mot tester reminded us about general corrosion throughout the vehicle, this coupled with a few other things is making us want to upgrade to a td5, reading the reviews this might be a bad idea tho. They suggest there are less problems on the later one's. Is there a date which i should be looking for to avoid the problems like wiring looms and leaking air bags etc. around 2002 trucks are our budget but i'd stretch to an 04 if it would save time and inconvenience in the garage. thanks ps cant afford a disco3 yet

If I were after a TD5 disco I'd be looking at 2002 onwards.

2002 on are supposed to be clear of all known faults. Although this is the case with the cracking cylinder heads, I have still come across later TD5's with oil in the injector loom.

If you can manage to buy a facelift (post 2002) you would do better. Lots of the early problems that so damged the reputation of the TD5 had been resolved by 2002 so they are about as 'safe' as any LR product.

Treat suspension airbags as service/maintainence items and you'll be ok. General view is every 5 yrs. Cost about £63+vat each side.
