Hi my headlights never seem to last more than 10 months I have now replaced them 3 times however now they won't work. The side lights and main beam function normally I have checked fuses 9/10 they are ok !
Anyone and suggestions please .

Have you renewed the wiring ? It is getting old now ...
No it's all original its been well maintained and looked after I have owned it 4 yrs without any issues till now !!! Do you mean a full re wire or just the headlights ?

Without actually looking it's difficult to diagnose your troubles but it could be that new sockets for the headlights could be required. If you're OK with a voltmeter, try tracing the power from the stalk, the "not working now" fault could be in that area.
It might be a little counter-intuitive, but try not to use cheap bulbs even though you seem to be replacing them a lot, they won't last like good quality replacements will.
Download a copy of RAVE if you don't already have one, the electrical diagrams are pretty comprehensive.

I had a fault (on my other car) on the alternator and it was spiking up to 18v occasionally. Blew 2 headlights while it was faulty which I presumed was down to the over-voltage.
I have a little volt/temp meter that plugs in the cigarette socket, so I could monitor while driving along.

Not much help .. but I have a pair of 300Tdi headlamps for sale .. much cheapness, £20 the pair. £30 if you also want the adjuster motors and switch, + postage.
