black smoke on start up

do they, mines a 200 and ive only owned it for a couple of wks, im sure it didnt do it when i bought it but maybe im just conscience of it now

Got my 90 cheap cos the kid that was selling it believed it was knackered cos it smoked for 2 seconds when cold :doh:, his loss my gain.:D
 
well i didn't want him to feel like i was tring to belittle all 16 years of his life experience,the boy had more toys than he knew what to do with.
 
I can do a long journey, stop for 2 minutes and on restart it puffs out the same puff of black smoke as it did when it was stone cold.
I believe its just caused by overfuelling on the start up cycle. Nothing to worry about.

It sprays a little oil onto the piston when first started on the early ones, so the engine doesn't suffer from heavy wear & tear for the first few mins or miles.
