Hi.
My DHSE has started to over rev when the box changes from 2 to 3, is there a clutch pack for each gear swap ? It's a 2001 model, just having passed 168000 k today. I've tried lucas and a fluid change with no difference.
Cut my losses and get an Ashcroft box, hoses and cooler rad ?

each gear is a series of clutch packs locking different parts of epicyclic gear train, though only one can give an issue, what colour was oil, black ?

I changed the oil at the weekend, let's just say it's now not very red. It sounds like a clutch pack. Over reving on the gear change ( it rises according to how far you put your foot down ! ) Fecking scary when you go to over take.........

Sticky valve block is also a possibility, took two lots of Lucas and about 1K miles before it went away on mine. Now I just get the ocassional hard shift.
Short term, use the gear lever to control the shift, hold in 2nd, lift off stick to third, just like a manual.

Sticky valve block has caused a clutch to burn. Nothing will cure that other than a new clutch and valve block clean.
