Auto gearbox breather 300tdi

Hi All,
Ive done a search to try and find out where the gearbox breather pipe exits the gearbox and got nowhere, 1 post said autos dont have a breather and another said they do.
Looking in the engine bay there are no signs of the gbox or tbox breathers, possibly missing/fallen off ?

both boxes have breathers, both a pain to get at, the auto box breather is high on the near side, can't remember where the other one is but it is there,

get it on a ramp if you can.

I could get to them both laying under mine. I then screwed in a push fit to each and then ran them up to my manifold then up my snorkel.

The breather exit if it's still there would be seen clipped the the rear engine bay bulkhead level-ish with the cylinder head.

transfer box breather is on hi/low lever housing on trandsfer box gear box one is on passenger side near top of rear housing ,same banjo in each 9/.16 spanner size,often pipes will be sat on top of box near front not all are long enough to reach head

I know this is an old thread.
But I'm struggling with the breathers on a 300tdi Auto (tbox and gbox).

I am thinking about just using an inline connector and extending from the existing breather.
Any reason why not?

The only reason I can think of relates to what I've found in the past on the rear axle.

I've had several rear axle breathers that have been blocked at the elbow which screws into the axle to case itself; so if you were to splice into the breather tubing somewhere along it's length it wouldn't work until the blockage was cleared.

Put a little air filter on the auto box dip stick - was Robs idea, but a few of us have pinched it - even though I spent an age doing my breather kit, including the box etc, the dip stick still popped out a bit....

Try https://www.halfords.com/motoring/c...ir-filters/ripspeed-universal-cone-air-filter or better still Google “cone air filter” you will also need an induction kit. The V8 sucks in a lot of air and likes it cool as possible.
But then why bother? When the factory fit air filter works better.
