Sent my 4.6 for mot today, went back for the bad news thinking lots of unseen problems, as i did not give it a check over before it took it in.

Kind of happy as it only failed on the exhaust emissions.

Fast Idle test 1
CO Max 0.300 Actual 0.725

HC Max 200 Actual 44

fast idle test 2
Co Max 0.300 Actual 0.730

HC Max 200 Actual 40

Natural idle test
Co Max 0.500 Actual 0.644

So, only just failed

It has had new O2 sensors, Magnecor leads, Iriduim plugs, genuine MAF sensor, Performance Air Filter, fitted with LPG but tested on petrol (super unleaded only)

they did recommend bringing it back on LPG and it will probably pass. It did not have enought in to test it on LPG.

Think i will fill it with LPG and go and give it good thrash.

Hi,

I had a similar recent problem, replaced loads to try to get it to pass, but it kept failing, was just starting to think it was the cats, there wasnt much left.

Hard to believe, but my problem turned out to be a split in the pipe just where is goes over the rear axel. It was about 12" long split, right down the length of the pipe. It made no blowing noise and was hard to see even when you knew it was there.

My MOT man finnaly spotted it, when i kept comming back, think he was sick of my moaning. I replaced the pipe, and all cool, passed with flying colors.

Maybe worth a quick check, It may not be it, but you never know.

Good luck,

L

So a friend told me:rolleyes: The best thing to do is buy the guy/girl tester a pint and get him/her to stick his/hers little probe up the exhaust pipe of the newest car in the garage. NEVER FAILS:D

Can they do it on LPG as I had mine MOTed last week and I had to take it in on petrol ? I watched him testing it through the waiting room window and when it came to the emissions he was revving the nuts off it for ages he told me afterwards that it didn`t like the test and kept trying to change over to lpg but he managed to get it through.

hi mate, use a product called cataclean,it is a great product for this sort of thing, got a car of a mate through it's mot due to emmissions being to high.look it up on ebay,it only costs about 13 quid or so.cheers.:D;)

the car has to be tested on the fuel it is presented on, maybe the tester hasn't had the experience (which it shows when he can't get it to stay on petrol) with lpg. go back and tell him you think he is full of **** and report him to the mot people.

if you dont he could be fooling others into getting work done that they dont need!!!

hmmm pussy cleaner!!! i can do that!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

The wifey is taking it back in tomorrow, don't know if thats a good thing! filled it up with gas, flogged it for 90 miles today, fortunately the garage (my local Peugeot Dealer, Smion Bailes) are really good, they recommended bringing it back on LPG, it was very low on gas when it went in so, as others say presented on petrol so had to be tested on it.
It has a full stainless system, no splits or cracks.
Fingers crossed.

Would that be Stockton, Northallerton or Guisborough ? :D:D:D

It was at the Guisborough one, it went in today and passed.

he said that when they are tested on LPG they are exempt from the cat emmisions test, so not as stringent.

They came to the conclusion that the running on lpg may have damaged the cats!

Ask me if I'm bothered, Am I, Am I, Nnnnnot.

Can't fault Simon Bailes, excellent customer service and reasonable prices!! far better than Land rover main dealers.:)

Nice to know there is another member from up north. :D:D:D

a good service, injector cleanors or a decent run can make the difference between a pass n fail on emissions.Once made the mistake of putting a car with a fuel tank in for the test. They failed it and chucked loads of cleaner through.Cost 45 quid on cleaner cos it was taking so long to get through the fuel on a engine designed to pass emissions!LPG is the way ahead for passing.
