Are Britpart really Sh*tpart..?

Looking through the Britpart online catalogue thingy... and have seen the comments in several posters sigs. Should buying stuff from this company be avoided..?

yes yes and yes.ITS CRAP QUALITY.Ok is cheaper but not worth the money.I paid for 4 uj to replce one prop shaft once, and ive got a brit part steering damper which has the rubber bushes perishing already.I HAVENT DRIVEN IT SINCE I FIT IT!!!!!

As a rule their parts are crap. The only Britpart part that I rate is there gaz steering dampers. Even then they don't fit without some fettling.

we have a britpart swing away wheel carrier and have done around 38000kms with it on and its been fine. the fuel pump was britpart and is now i belive on its way out but again it has done 38000kms.

I think It depends what exactly you are fitting. Alot of their stuff is cheap tut some failures are also because they are fitted incorrectly ( I remember a hub seal being fitted backwards was one of em after he fitted 3 it must have clicked) and some parts are just fine. But these are cheaper for a reason. Jai

Its a lottery with Britpart; some of thier stuff aint all bad, trouble is you never know.....

Which, if you are buying something buried deep in the gearbox, can be rather annoying if you have to dig all the way back in to it to repace a duffer earlier than you should, especially if its something 'stupid' like a 50p detent spring jamming your syncro so you cant get the darn thing out of 2nd!

While for stuff even remotely safety critical like brake cylinders or track rod ends..... No.... you just DONT want to go there!

Something like a swing away carrier, a jerry can holder, or a steering guard, welll it works or it dont, doesn't it? and whats the worse that can happen? and how hard would it be to 'sort out'?

I've got Britpart HD springs on and had no problems, they fit, work and seem so far to take all the punishment without sagging!

I don't have any Britpart kit in the engine or brake systems ... I mostly stick to LR or OEM stuff where I consider it critical.

Their wheelbearings are NASTY; monkey metal, and rough as owt, you can feel the roller-bearings catching!! Haven't fitted the ones Paddocks sent after I specifically asked for the Timken ones, I'll go up and swap em at some point.
I think you'll find 'their' swingaway wheel-carriers are actually made by Mantec, as they make most of the ones marketed by the main players as 'own brand'

pay yer money and take yer chances ! somes good and some bad,

what brand of parts would u guys recommed?

yes britpart is ****!
most of the stuff i put on a year ago has already been replaced with oem or original
so it cost me twice to do a job i had to do twice, if that makes sence

some of the stuff is ok-but and this is the big but, unless it relies on much more than taking your money and running.

I had some the same, didn't fit them felt like turning a 50p , if they are made in this country it's a disgrace to british engineering.

this comes round every coupla months... you pays yer money ... ultimately britpart are just an auto factors who happen to specialise in lr, i wouldn't even consider fitting pattern factors parts to any of my motors unless it was a dire emergency on a sunday morning but some people are happy with cheaper lesser quality parts. on quite a few items they do offer a choice of cheap **** or reasonable quality stuff so it's up to you to decide what you can afford and what you need to be reliable. i always us oem stuff unless it's something silly expensive, there's loads of oem suppliers on the net- lr series, craddocks, rimmers etc

I think we have a consensus
