A few months ago replaced my front left hand hub this unit from Lucky 8
A few days ago I checked for play in my front left wheel and found the wheel does have play, moving slightly vertically and horizontally by hand. Reached out to Lucky 8 and verified the hubs they sell are actually All Makes 4x4 hubs. Really annoyed at the thought of having to replace the same front LH hub again, but looks like that's in my near future. So this time I'll replace both sides with the same quality hubs.
From my research I can see its the best quality bearings are Timken FTC1507. I am considering biting the bullet and buying these hubs from Atlantic British.
• FTC3226 - Front Right Hand Wheel Hub Bearing Assembly
• FTC3243 - Front Left Hand Wheel Hub Bearing Assembly
I'm awaiting a response from them to confirm the manufacturer of these hubs and whether or not they come with Timken ( FTC1507) bearings preinstalled?
Alternatively I have look at these:
British Parts of Utah, who confirmed their hub is manufactured by Hudson.
• 1995~2002 Range Rover Front Axle Hub Bearing Right Passenger
Island 4x4, who offers
• Timken - Front Hub Wheel Bearing RH P38 FTC3226
• Britpart - Front Hub Wheel Bearing RH P38 FTC3226
• Eurospare - Front Hub Wheel Bearing LH P38 FTC3243
I have also considered buying used hubs and having a local shop press in new Timken bearings however the cost after a used hub, new bearings, and labor is pretty much the same as buying a new ~$500 replacement hub.
Does anyone have any other recommendations for which ones would be OEM quality equivalent hubs? I want to do this hub replacement job once more and be done with it.
