Anyone seen this on a 4.6 Bosch engine (strange mod?)

Hi all,

My MY2000 has a "weepy" engine so thought I'd investigate. She's not losing copious amounts, but the block is a bit wet!...looks like the rocker covers are at fault

Upon inspection I noticed these 2 pipes, just below the throttle linkage.

It looks as though they should connect separately just under the throttle body, but someone has taken them off and joined them with a piece of pipe???

Has anyone seen this before and should I put them back into their rightful positions?

Looks like the previous owner had a leaking throttle body problem and bypassed it

This is my first P38 so I'm still learning

Water pipes, inlet and outlet for heating the throttle body.Have a search and you will find they leak regularly, no problem with the mod.

Yep, mines just showing signs of leaking. Pink residue on pipes below throttle body. Time to investigate me thinks.

That's a job I can tick off the list. No need to do something if it doesn't need doing

Plenty other jobs to do.....namely headlining and heater matrix O-rings

The bit of pipe he's used looks a tad thin. Might be worth redoing it properly!
