Evening all, my dads p38 has has an eas problem for the last 18 months and hasn't moved since. It was the compressor at fault as the bearing had failed. Changed it and cleared the code, fired it up left it for few mins and is still on bump stops, no air getting to the bags. I tried it manually and tiny amounts was being delivered to each bag.

Any help would be appreciated
 
You may need to clear the faults using the EAS cable+laptop or a dedicated diagnose device. If that is a hard-fault it won't self clear on its own.
 
Leave a door open for 15 minutes while you run the engine...

This will give the compressor a chance to fill the EAS tank....

Then close the door and select a ride height....if still nothing, come back to us - I am sure Wammers or Datatek will give you more to try...

Also if it has been left standing for a while, the suspension bags are no doubt fecked and leaking badly....!!!
 
Yes is all connected properly, will try leving the door open then trying it. Am going to get one of them tyre valve emergency bypass kits

They are no help in sorting the problem. Do the compresser output check in Wammers guide in the "How To" section, if you have good pressure and it still doesn't go up it likely there is a leak. As the compressor failed originally the leak is likely to be worn out airbags, That most likely will be what killed the compressor.
Airbags have a design life of 7/8 years 80K miles and like tyres, they need to be replaced before they fail.
 
Didn't think a worn compressor gives a fault code on eas software. As datatek says, piston seal in compressor will fail if its fighting against an air leak. If the bags are not obviously leaking, check by spraying with soapy water. It will bubble up if air is escaping. Also check all the hoses at o ring connections in the same way.

Will throw a fault if the EAS ECU doesn't detect and appreciable rise in tank pressure over a given length of time...the system will then fault!

There is no tank pressure monitor, only a switch which operates at full pressure. With a leak the switch will never operate and the compressor will overheat and cut out first.

Wait a mo - think I might have answered my own query - does the system throw a fault if ther eis no change in height over a given length of time???

Yes and no, it has to fill the tank which takes a long time, 15 to 20 minutes if the compressor is not in the first flush of youth. If this is happening with the doors closed, you get occasional puffs of air to the airbags with a slight lift which then leaks away, the process can go on until the compressor overheats. No fault logged as the suspension does lift a tad and then drops.:)

Ah thats where I got confused....no change in height = Fault, not, no change in pressure = Fault....:eek:
