I was on a long run up the M5 yesterday and my basttery watning light came on, I thought that tempramental alternastor has packed up.
An hour later of motorway driving and I was home, popped tthe bonnet and the bel had snapped!

Does the same belt drive the water pump? if so I drove for asbout an hour at 60 mph, could this have caused any damage?

The temperature gauge wasnt showing it overheating - may this be because the pump wasnt circulating the coolant past the stat?

Obviously i need to replace the belt, but is there any probable damage hat m ay have been caused o the engine?

The alternator belt had stretched several times, requiring tightening up crappy belt?

Any advice/knowledge is much appreciated in advance guys!

Then "main" belt drives water pump and PAS pump - "secondary" belt drives alternator, so no....shouldn't have affected anything else. :)

You sure? Mine has the main belt around crank, alt and water pump. Small belt round crank and PAS pump.

Stock set up so whose is correct?

Curious. Mine is as shown below....
The 19j has the PAS as the separate one, if memory serves
