OK following on from my other thread the Disco is now immobilised, the key will not work the central locking or disarm the immobiliser. Luckily its on my drive and not needed immediately. Its forecast warm and dry and my experience to date has been that once its bone dry it will work again.

I have ordered a new radio remote receiver and also make sure the unit is earthed properly once I have dropped the headlining.

Question is, if this doesn't cure it, what are my options?

- Can I set the BCU to work on key only, and will this then disarm both the alarm and immobiliser so I can drive it normally?

- Is there anything else I should check that could cause this issue?

NB new batteries in both key fobs, and new battery in car (currently on charge to make really sure)

thanks to a suggestion from another forum member and using a hawkeye.
I have done exactly that.

unfortunately you MUST remobilise it first to access the BCU with tester for settings, once remobilised you can programm the alarm setting in BCU on "always ..." see this to know the whole story: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/recommendation-d2-owners-184078.html

if you have problems before that find out the EKA code from a main dealer and use it as in the book after you unlock with key ... and pray that the previous owner didnt change EKA...cos that's possible too

great info as always thanks. Its supposed to be hot and sunny tomoz and I reckon that will get it working again.

Once lining is down I can change the receiver and hopefully that will do the trick. If I can find someone locally I will then make the change to always disarm with key to make it more reliable in future. Do stealers charge for the AKA code?

the EKA is free of charge but if you can disarm it yourself nanocom/T4/Autologic(hawkeye can't) will read it and you can modify it as you wish... i've set it to my card's pin code to be easyer to remember;)

by the way if it makes tricks after rain make sure there's no water ingres at the BCU(behind glovebox) cos then you may have more serious problems in the future

Check the fuse box under the dash (drivers side) for water damage. Very common problem.
Water gets in to the circuit board on the back of the fuse box.

Headlining down at rear (30 mins max) and I could see the original earth had not been connected to the receiver unit. Since I had bought the receiver I fitted it and YES result all sorted now the blipper has far more range and car is mobile again.

Since the fabric was sagging all over the place I decided to take the headlining down and strip and paint it, trip to B&Q to buy some paint then will post up a couple of pics.

I think the original receiver may be OK and it was just the earth at fault, but havnt tried that as I had the new part......Thanks to all on here what could have been an expensive repair was a simple and cheap one!!!
