Hi, new owner here, well a few weeks.

My diesel RR 2001 has just covered 62k miles.

It has had a refurbed compressor on at March 2007.

The suspension works as it should, it lowers, it raises, it changes at 50mph and back up when under 30mph, etc.

No faults are showing on the dash.

But the car does sink overnight and I have a very good eye, and sometimes I swear its not level when its been sat for a while.

Is the suspension supposed to lower overnight, or is that a good sign of leaks?

It always raises very nicely, smoothly and fast.

So if its leaking, will it just drop on the bags that leak?

If the suspension works fine, do I just buy new bags and the clips?

I would just buy 4 new and do it all at once, £250 all in is not too bad.

check the bags with soapy water. if you do a search on here there are loads of posts.

you can change pairs of bags or all four. if just one is damaged i.e ripped or punctured due to accident rather than wear you could replace just the one!

Take a look here. EAS Test and Fix

Do the leak test and spend a couple of quid on 'o' rings first. I had a leaky spring and my P38 looked like it was kneeling to pray every morning. Fixed now for a few quid and 20 mins work. I was overcomplicating it, expecting it to be a bugger of a job, Quite easy for a moderately challenged DIY'er. Don't spend huindreds on it just yet. There'll be something else to use the money on in a week or two!!

Thanks MSS, that was some great info.

I have had a look at the vids and will have a thorough check before I decide on repairs.

I recently change the brakes, and do remomber looking at the spring and seeing cracks, so it may well be a case of 4 new.

They are 8 years and 62k miles old.

Just done the spray/bubble test.

Found everything to be fine, except one of the rear springs was leaking, all the foam expanded and looked like shaving foam after a few minutes. This spring also looked out of shape compared to the other rear.

All the springs have cracks in them, so I guess it may be time to do them all.

Am I right in thinking, if one spring is leaking and gets lower, the car will release air from the others to level the system? And therefore, to diagnose a fault, disable the EAS system overnight, so it will not level the car?

dunno about the fault bit but the levelling bit right, i would swap em all then get it reset as you say it works ok generally!

The car will self level every 6 hours when parked to the lowest point - i.e. the leaking bag until on the bump stops
