Well I can't put it off any longer, the new airsprings arrived in the week and todays the day to start:eek:. Yeh I know I'm late starting but it is Easter Sunday:p

I hope I have more luck than Irishrover getting the old srings off. So far all I have done is measured the ride heights on all 4 corners which vary by 15mm:confused:

So wish me luck.....................................:D:D

Picks please, be nice to see someone working for a change, and good luck and smooth running

Best of luck..hope all goes well.
We do have a lot of guys busy today, with Gavbriggs and Andy0352 pulling lumps out and Datatek playing with old bags.
Go for the rears first, they are likely to give you the most grief.
Me...I'm taking things easy, going for a couple of pints, followed by a bit of lunch and an hours nap in the chair!!!:clap2::clap2:

can i just point out me and andy arent pulling lumps out of eachother!! they are 'lumps' as in engines and we are pulling them out of our individual vehicles in seperate parts of the country and are no way intertwined in a sordid lump pulling contest although if afore mentioned contest did become a competative event i would guess i would win, thats if i can avoid fecking any more silly bolts up!!

just thought i'd clarify things!!:behindsofa:

Well thats the 2 rears done:D The units were plastic so the clips came out easily with my special tool, a suitably bent piece of welding rod. The hardest job was prying the tops out as they were rusted in, a wrecking bar did it tho:eek: I'm amazed at the amount of rust on an eight & a half year old vehicle. Drivers side took 2 hours as I had to remove the wheel arch liner for another job. That was a bugger, the little plastic stud at the bottom would not move, had to chop off it's head and punch it out:frusty:
Near side was less than an hour:D:D
Thanks to Andy for the tip about doing a corner at a time and poping the air pipes out, worked a treat:D:D:D
Fronts tomorrow then I'll try to post some photo's.
Thanks to all for the usefulinfo on this site:tea:

Lucky man with the springs. I found the fronts easier.

The rotary, gasoline fuelled power unit contest is well under way, I hear that Ladbrokes have opened a book on the outcome and Gav has a handicap in view of the bolt episode.:behindsofa:

Ha job done:D:D:D Fronts turned out to be the worst for me. I could not remove the wheel arch liners as the screws at the bottom through the mud flaps were seriously rusted in. The top clips and the pins of the air spring where they pass through the top mounting were also rusted solid. Big hammer  and very long punch did the trick. Otherwise straight forward, no re-calibration needed.
Not sure how long it took, being Easter Monday we have had a constant stream of visitors interrupting the work, probably 3 hours or so.
Found splits in all the airbags
