Not one to endorse violence but reading the reports/calls for help ref' this fellow have you thought of chipping in a few ££££'s and hiring a couple of proper heavies to sort him out? A couple of baseball bat broken legs and he wouldn't do it again. A little extra gentle persuasion and he'd be encouraged to return at least some monies.

The problem with these scum types is that they get away with it a few times and then think they can do the same with everyone. They need re-educating the old fashioned way.

Paul Moir helped me with problems with my defender td5 110,
On a couple of occasions he was really helpful. Each time there were slight niggles with the work done.
A year after the respray there were areas of paint not adhering and I had to have several areas resprayed.
On the whole he was being very helpful. I later found that he’d been aiming to make a sale or win a project for updating the vehicle.
During one of my visits he told me that he was really struggling to keep up with work.
I offered to help a couple of days a week to project manage.
From Sept 2019 through to March 2020 I didn’t my best to help and even got on the tools from time to time.
Sadly he proved to be impossible to deal with. I resigned in March 2019.
What people need to know is that he was underfunded and despite being put in a position to get several vehicles out quickly the parts were slow to arrive.
His management of staff was appalling and the longer I knew him the more I found him impossible to work with.
Sadly, I found that he seemed to have no conscience when it came to late delivery. He’d not answer calls or emails.
He must be stopped.

However, it is not quite right to assume garbage operated as Image 4x4 LTD. The company was never used in anger as he works as a sole trader ie self employed.

that means that he is personally liable and cannot hide behind a company, to limit his liability.

Interesting to hear something from inside the company as opposed to unhappy customers.

You say he was under funded. May I ask how? He may have little working capital but he often took money up front or in stages well before work was done, oft customers he was doing work for. He therefore had the money to so the work unless he underestimated the cost of parts, labour and 'running' a business.

Over the years we have seen many come on ere to tell us their story. I would estimate about 30. Some of them from USA who were purchasing one of his 'creations' to import. It's not unusual for the price to be well over £10k or £20k and this being handed over often without sight of the vehicle. Or if they have seen it... condition is bad and promises to rectify rarely happen. If they do the work is just as bad. Some of this may be down to the difference between what he offers and what the customer thinks he/she is buying. It's not unusual for export problems and additional money being requested when problems occur. The high costs of the work he aspires to complete happened long before tratter prices rose to silly heights in many cases.

I can understand a business being under financial pressure... but he was being paid large sums up front for the supply/service he quoted for. He's been doing this for a number of years so he must know the area of work he's trading in, and the likely costs involved.

Work quality is often said to be poor. Is he incompetent or/and not employing others to help him do the work who are competent?

Where does all the money go that people pay? It must be lost somewhere unless he pockets a 'good' wage on the theory he's trying and deserves it.

Were there any happy customers during the time you were with him? We only get the horror stories but it would be good to know the balance of good/bad.

Hippo, you have hit the nail on the head, every one of them!
I used to suggest he do a cashflow forecast and to create budgets related to project numbers, to have order numbers so we could track his expenditure.
It's such a shame. He had as many Facebook followers as "Twisted".

He had one great bloke working for him but he did not treat staff well.

I did not have access to finances but it was the way I had to fight for everything that started to concern me.
It's only my opinion but I just got the feeling that he had almost given up on the cars he had in there, that they would get done in the end.
He is not an engineer, he is not time served and the difference was glaring. He had grown up in the car sales world where bull**** baffles brains. His ideas were basically good. Some brilliant stuff could get done but it was all spoilt for that "half-penneth of tar".

I like to think bowl a straight wicket and at one point I did contact Landyzone about some libellous stuff written about him. As far as I could see he had never traded as a Limited company so to claim he had bankrupted Image 4x4 Limited and then carried on trading using that name was incorrect. However, his behaviour started to concern me and he is probably on some spectrum or other. That in and of itself is nothing until that condition coupled with his behaviour, with his character and his way of working became a toxic recipe.

I won't say everything on here because that would not be fair but nobody should be buying cars off this man.
That said, if you expect to get a "Twisted" looking Defender for £28k then that in and of itself requires a man working on his own from his own garage and not someone with a team of people and sizeable premises and no idea of how to project manage.

Some of the clients I knew have got in touch and I am trying to support them. This is a terrible state of affairs.
When I left (March 2020) I had been nagging since October for seats for more than one car. It was 90% done and could be finished in a week but it just sat there. He's swanned off with several cars, tools and lord knows how many spares and bits and bobs whilst trying to claim that he's bankrupt.

Hello,
Does a Java Black Land Rover Defender 90, with Yellow details, being prepared for a chap in Somerset ring any bells?
If so, that chap is me, and No, I don't have my Land Rover that he promised me over and over for the last 2 years!

Bloody hell,
This is becoming like The Michael Jackson scandal o_O.
One person comes out then the rest come out the woodwork. I cannot believe people have left their vehicles so long with this man. If I never got mine back after a couple of weeks I would be paying anybody and everybody to sort it out for me.
Or take a trailer with me and get it myself.
There is enough already of them on this thread alone to start law proceedings or even better make this mans life a misery everyday by hounding him.o_O
You don't have to get physical with people but if you pester and slow their lives down to a state where they are becoming the victim they may come to the table and talk compensation for their victims - though they may not either o_O
knowing that the majority have not done much already.o_O

Hello Kurt,
I don't want to rattle any cages at the moment. I need to get my vehicle into my possession first, then look at ways to get the money out of him to complete the vehicle to the specifications that I stated. I did continually call, email to ask what was taking so long. He kept blaming Covid for the delay. I did point out to him that all the local garages are still open and trading where I live, but to no avail!
I also said that it takes just three months from the first down payment and contract signing to delivery of a custom built Rolls Royce Phantom!
This statement also washed over his head.
Thanks for your input. Something will / has to be done to stop this man from ever trading again.
Kind regards.

Hi
It just seems a bit fishy that suddenly this is all coming to light. I hope you get your vehicle but surely by now you need to seriously step up the game and with just the few people who have come out today saying the same thing on here pool your resources and if possible start some communication with this guy.
He may have genuine issues it can happen, he may be just lazy and not bothered or he has given up on the business when reality sinks in and costs become higher than quotes given.
He may be burying his head in the sand or maybe sat at home laughing but either way without a line of communication with him you will only be second guessing.
Hope all goes well for you all.

He had several black ones.two I know went to their owners.
Neither very pleased.
There was another and right now there’s only a 110 chassi with yellow bits
I know because two ther clients of his reached out to me to ask If I could see if their cars were there.
One is completely missing and the other has a lot missing.
Between them they paid over £60k

message me privately pls and I have contact details you need to be aware of.

Having the same number of followers as Twisted means nothing. Twisted is a well respected company who deliver. I have no proof of the overall level of satisfaction across all of their customers... I only have what we see online. But if I were to demand a tour of their workshop to confirm their setup... I don't think they would mind and they certainly wouldn't have anything to hide. Image 4x4 is quite frankly the total opposite.

I can appreciate yer concern over the liable stuff. Not all of it was on firm ground. I remember the big fred being locked for a while and there being mention of some legal problems with the content.

It is a fact that the company Image 4x4 Limited did exist. Said company was registered to Paul Andrew Moir from Nov 2014 to Dec 2016. He was the director and no other person registered or charged with company affairs. Said company was dissolved by force after being given a notice to be struck oft, which it later was. That's not something to shrug oft as 'it happens'. It happened for a reason. Said company was given 2 months notice to make good what was at fault... and failed to do so. It's not a decision the authorities take lightly. It's a formal power available within the regs and was carried out officially on a company that didn't comply with the rules all other companies have to follow.

I would agree peeps shouldn't buy vehicles from him. From what we're told of his work... it's not good. You could argue customers were looking for a 50k sov LR heritage project makeover on the cheap. But I doubt they were expecting the same level of workmanship. Some of the issues were the basics of not being road legal. No paperwork for ownership or a 6 month delay in obtaining paperwork. Bodged electrics. Major structural rust. In essence a half hearted attempt and a shrug of the shoulders when owners raised complaints. That's if they got their vehicle. That doesn't sound like a company I would want to deal with.

The fact is he took on the agreed work and failed to deliver on a reasonable level of quality in many cases or actually hand over a vehicle. We often hear of him taking money up front. What happened to it? It's not like he only worked on 3 vehicles then realised he'd under budgeted for the work and it was impossible to complete. He took on many orders each year for a number of years. Trading under the company name of Image 4x4 Limited even though the company was dissolved and it being against the regulations to do so. Google street view prooves the company name was still used on the building with LR's inside. There's no mistake in any of this. He took on work. Did a bad job and continued to take on more work for many years. If there are peeps out there who have had good work done by him and can prove it with paperwork/receipts and pic's... then I would be more than happy to hear from them. By post on this ere forum or in private by PM. Mr Moir has been on ere before trying to trick us.

It's interesting to see he took cars, tools etc from the business. He could probably see it coming to an end. Said vehicles and tools would be worth a lot of money so it's no surprise he took them to work on vehicles privately or to sell I would assume. He needs an income and could see it as a way out. Let the business fold and hide where yer working.

His facebook page still lists Image 4x4 Limited:

Hi Hippo
Just for the record I don’t think anyone said the limited company didn’t exist.
As far as I could tell he did what he always does and started the company up and failed to file the statutory papers. He failed to make the company dormant.

he traded as Image 4x4, as far as I could tell.
If someone has had invoices from him with the limited company heading then I’m wrong.

however it was only Image 4x4 ie trading as a sole proprietor.

that one thing aside, I think you are spot on with everything else.

ah …..and I’ve heard some horror stories about a large defender pimping outfit.

That aside, this is about PM and Image 4x4.
The soon will be more news but if people come forward on here I believe someone will contact them.

Hello,
I have an invoice dated 21/05/2019 with the address as 95 Gillett Street, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU3 4JF. It has the Image 4x4 logo in the top left of the A4 sheet of paper.
It clearly says Image 4x4 and NOT Image 4x4 Limited. VAT number is listed as GB 311 8402 42.
I noticed the address changed as time went on and the last address I got when Mr Moir sent me a message saying he liquidated the company is stated as,
11 to 17 Daltry Street, Hull, HU3 2BB.
I have been informed that he sold his house prior to liquidation, as he knew he would loose it. This money is probably in his wife's name or in an off shore account.
This man knows all the loop holes to jump through as he has done this many times before, yet he can still start up a new business with no questions asked. It's quite clear that the law is sadly lacking in this area!
Best Regards.

As far as I can tell, the company was not liquidated as he claimed it never traded. I told him he'd be better off as a Limited company or any liabilities would stay with him personally.
He has allegedly separated from his wife.
This is the part that people are not grasping. He starts up companies with a "bright idea".
Electric Defender Limited being one of them. He doesn't trade with them, is too lax to file them as dormant or file the paperwork so they get struck off.

I did try to help by raising the matter with LZ, not to silence his critics but to help them from wrongly claiming things. The standard of work, paint etc was all something that was correct, as it turned out, far worse than anyone knew.

He is going to have to face the music this time.

Interesting to see he has a number of companies. The electric defender was dissolved via compulsory strike oft in Jan 2021.
Hull LR Center is still active but he resigned a few months ago.
Conformation statement is 2 months overdue. You can be struck oft for that and there's a potential fine up to 5k sovs anorl. It's just conformation of what yer company is. Not difficult to fill out and send oft. Warning notice to strike oft has already been generated but not actioned yet. He has time to stop this action by filing his statement.

Yes indeed he has. He also got a letter from Landrover to tell him he couldn’t use Landrover services Limited. He ignored them, did nothing it will be struck off too unless he makes it dormant.

Trading as IMAGE 4x4 or Hull Land Rover Centre Ltd.

Good evening,

We are seeking to find anyone who has had problems with dealing with the named guy Paul Andrew Moir who is running the above businesses although image4x4 was dissolved in December 2016 he has still be trading with it.

We purchased a series 3 nut and bolt rebuild back in November 2019, he started in January 2020, was told to insure it for August 2020 as that's when it would be completed (delays with parts due to covid 19 so he blames) with a valuation of £35.000 on the understanding Paul Moir would complete this paperwork for the insurance company, since August 2020 we have constantly been chasing him for completion date, he then agreed Oct 2020, then December 19th 2020, even though he knew full well it wouldn't be completed as he hasn't done nothing on it. He did no work all summer due to me refusing another payment, I requested to pull out but he said it was too late so had to pay up the next installment and was worried would lose what we already had invested.

We visited weekly and nothing had changed even staff members were asking where parts were that we had paid for were so could work on it.

Unresponsive communication via text or email & phone calls, just kept working on other land rovers but mine was only one that was paid up for. Then texted promising Jan 2021 - date then missed again.

Feb 21 - nothing else completed.
Easter week 21 we visited - told we wanted to take the land rover out and take it elsewhere, he said it was just days away from completion.
End of April - still working on others..
May 2021 - visited weekly but progress so very very slow.
June 2021 - no reason why it won't be ready by 4th June 2021 - failed date yet again, still parts missing to finish.

Couldn't get it collected due to him not having the wheels, dispute us contacting the garage where they were, to be told been ready 6 months just not paid for them even though we paid in advance.

Friday 22nd June - last straw told him we were pulling it out next Friday to make sure it would be ready for Friday 29th.

Collection day - 29th June luckily we had ordered wheel nuts, good job as we arrived to find only 2 on per wheel, no steps which where paid for by us plus many other parts missing.

Collected Friday 29th and took it to a local garage, MAJOR MOT FAILURE.

It's gunna cost THOUSANDS to fix all the things that are wrong.

He emailed last week saying good luck for the future and has now declated himself bankrupt.

I'm on with solicitors etc but just looking for other people who have experienced a bad service, I've found a few on the internet, how he keeps getting away with ripping geniune hardworking people off.

Thank you so much
