Sticker one on bonnet, or I have seen some on vents under defender screen. Not sure where they gave to be to be legal however.

Number plate is supposed to be as vertical as possible so can be viewed from a distance. Sticking one on the bonnet where it can only be seen from above would not be appreciated by plod - fine and points.

At the moment stick on plates are ILLEGAL even thou they conform to the whole BS standard. How ever the plod were told by the government to have some common sense on these, the history of these come from the S-Type Jag where there was not a flat panel so they were the first to have stick / painted plates on the bonnet and it was them that got the government to use common sense, HOW EVER, any other vehicle running them can come into trouble if there is a better place / style to have. I had a VW Baja which was all round so had a sticker plate and no problem with the police even after a routine stop check .

As for position it should be visible but at the moment i do not believe there is a legal height for them. your 'Safest bet would be on your grill as if you put them on your vents you could be bollocking for preventing a copper doing his job or similar if you have your vents open and go past a speed trap.

Have you thought about making some thing which could clip onto your fair lead or two LARGE 'P' clips to go round the tube bumper and then bolted to the plate as normal maybe with some 2mm steel brace so it doest brake in the wind???

I have mine attached to a piece of wood the same size which I then bungy to the winch housing just above the fairlead. Doesn't get in the way but means I can remove it easy if I need to.

dvla says you have to have it as far to the front and as close to 90 degrees to the road as 'practicaly' possible so as far as a vehicle thats used for off-roading thats not always going to be the front bumper area as its likely to get ripped off, so somewhere like front of your roof rack ( if you have one ) or top of your windscreen would seem like a arguable placement ,Its also to be desplayed on a reflex-reflective surface white at the front and yellow on the back with black lettering ( along with all the other bs standard such as letter sizes and fonts etc).

the info is on the dvla website would post a link to the relavent part but i cant seem to find it again

cant find the part on the being as far forward and as close to 90 degrees to the road tho lol its more than likely in there somewhere lol

My classic had it on its bonnet and passed 2 mots.
My 90 plate is on the dash behind the windscreen:D
Old bill look but don't give a fek.
Come MOT I will cable tie it to the front grille, then put it back in the window;)

It also going to depend on the copper and mot tester. It they want to be an arse they will cause trouble. If not prob just leave it. Couple velcro pads on bumper, or fab up couple brackets, and get an import plate for it. They smaller
