I managed to salvage from my old chassis the plate that goes on the underside of the chassis that braces the steering relay.
When i came to attach it to the new (Richard's) chassis, i have found the holes are in the wrong / different place.
I have a choice of either buying a new one (a plate, not a chassis), for about £25 which i presume will fit my chassis & relay, or I drill some holes in the right place in my plate.
Whilst I know that steering is important (!), i am thinking the plate would still be plenty strong enough.
Any advice?

Large forces pass through that flange. You need to re-drill holes anyway, so increase material thickness to around
6 mm and ensure it fits tightly around the relay. Loose all the movement if you can.
