Adding external oil cooler for gearbox?

It would be more effective to have the twin coolers in series rather than parallel as you couldn't guarantee splitting the oil flow 50/50. Unless you are into some really serious towing, I can't see that the basic cooler would be a problem.

The R380 manual box also has the facility for an oil cooler, ours is fitted with one.

Did anyone added an additional oil cooler in parallel of the stock one, connected to the gearbox in front of the main radiator?

Not arguing with you, but why do you feel the need for an extra cooler? I've run TD5 autos towing really heavy weights without any issues at all.

Are you getting an overheat message on the dash? The temp sensors are known to be dodgy?

Are you using 3rd gear when towing heavy stuff? Gives you Torque Converter lock-up at 48mph?

Actually none of the symptoms you had described.
Since I live in a average of 35 to 45 c most of the year and wheeling in the desert, AFAIK tranny biggest enemy is the heat, mine is 300k life time, with no issues, change filter every 40k km intervals with Shell Donax TZ , was thinking how to maintain lower temp on the tranny extending its life...
