Hi All,

Been a while but the Freelander is still doing fine, and we are still enjoying it after 2 1/2 years now.

Couple of things i could do with some help on:

1) Looking at the front discs there is a slight groove in one and has a small lip from wear..... Whats the min thickness for the discs before you change them?

2) Im extending the warrenty in May but would prefer EBC Pads and Discs due to the stopping and reduced brake dust... will this cause problems with the warrenty?

3) Passengers rear door has a slight creek when opening and closing ive greased the thin plate type hinge but it all looks a bit cheap and cheerful, is this a known fault area?

4) After most bits being changed on the clutch system under warrenty the pedal still creeks when fully pressed down. Is it a simple greasing job or do they need to change parts?

Sorry for the endless questions but you guys really have helped over the past few years.

Cheers

Passengers rear door has a slight creek when opening and closing is the thin plate type hinge a known fault area?

The clutch pedal still creeks when fully pressed down. Is it a simple greasing job or do they need to change parts?

No idea

We can't speak on behalf of the warrenty supplier, why not ask them?
3) Passengers rear door has a slight creek when opening and closing ive greased the thin plate type hinge but it all looks a bit cheap and cheerful, is this a known fault area?
All doors creak from time to time, I don't know wheather Freelanders are any better or worse than others.
4) After most bits being changed on the clutch system under warrenty the pedal still creeks when fully pressed down. Is it a simple greasing job or do they need to change parts?
Wouldn't know, mines an auto. If you've had a job done, and you're not happy, take it back.

Or perhaps that reply isn't worth making, which is why you didn't get a quick reply!

Thanks guys,

I know they aren't major problems, but some parts begin to grind and creek before they fail so i thought ask the questions before going any futher.

The Clutch pedal is a pain in the @rse because its gone in a number of times and although fine when returned starts to creek a few weeks later.

Hopefully i dont get any majors like you mentioed...

Cheers

The creaking will probably be coming from the bearing supporting your clutch pedal. This is a plastic bush which with time has become dirty and dried. The service shop will give it a squirt of WD which will keep it quiet (and you) for a couple of weeks and then it returns.
The way to properly eliminate it is to remove the pedal and shaft and clean and lubricate them with a small amount of grease. Pain of a job, time = money for your service provider.

Thanks for that.

Thats exactly what i was looking for. I have no problem just giving it a spray of WD40, but for them to keep saying they have replaced something for it to come back is a pain. Wish they would just be honest and say spray it with WD40........

Im guessing its further towards the bulkhead that needs spraying?

Couldn't have said it better myself.
My seat sometimes creaks when I sit down, my windows steam up sometimes & my clutch pedal is totally non existent (could just be the fact it's an auto) but I aint bothering folk over it.
sounds like your car's giving good service to me.

Yeh, but then I hardly use it, it's taken me over 4 1/2 years to clock up 100000 miles.
