I've been searching but can't find a answer, so I'm hoping someone can help.
Since owning my 90 the diff lock light never worked so I looked into the lovely wiring yesterday managed to get the switch to work but on low and low lock rather than hi/low lock,
Any ideas
Cheers
Dan

You can change between Hi and Lo box (Lever back or forward) and the light stays off. Only when you push the lever to the left are you pushing the diff lock on and the light will come on.

Ye but this comes on in low and low lock rather than hi lock/low lock
Cheers Dan

hi/lo has no effect on part of diff lock its only that they use the same lever ,it may be lever isnt going quite as far in one or the other ,switch needs to be wound into box enough it works positively but not too far it jams diff lock selector fork

reet- continuing saga.....

got new switch. checked it works :).

removed old one. moved lever into difflock ( i read it dont go in if switch is in too far). screwed in new switch - all the way??? reconnected wires (when shorted dash light comes on). turned on ignition - no difflock light - moved lever back and forth. still no light.

Any ideas what to try next?

yes

wa it actually in diff lock or have you bust switch ,bearing in mind you say dash light works when wires are shorted together not just the live one to earth

i removed old switch (which didnt work). got a new one from spare box. tested it (works fine).

moved difflock leaver fully to left. wound new switch in by hand (and it bottomed out ). went into car, turned ignition on - no difflock light. waggled lever back and forth - still no light. gave up for tonight.

will remove switch again tomoz and check i havent damaged it - but cant see how.

I spose it is possible linkage isnt set up properly and isnt going into difflock..... but front difflock cam is moving from about 12:00 to about 2:00, so i think its ok. havent done a wheel up test to check yet.
