i think most of the add ons can be bought on ebay, gold handels on the inside of the door the crome strips on the bumpers just cheepen it for me. and the thor engine was a upgrade to the gems..
 
thanks guys thats what i thought, the kn*b lives not to far from me and i have never seen the car around here,, asked him about the engine and he reckons the 4.0 comes with the gems engine...advert kinda explains why hes been banned from driving... as does fitting a tow bar to prevent carless parking lol
 
It doesn't look quite right to me.....I've got most of the brochures etc for the Rangies of that era and something is amiss.......my '99 4.6 is a Thor, I was under the impression that all of them from 1999 onwards were Thor and not Gems.....
 
If he has a Gems ina 2001 RR then it either is a Ringer or someone has done an engine exchange but I would not have thought that to be easy
 
Its quite simple,the XA on chassis p38's with a petrol v8,(August 1st 1998 on.) had the Thor,Bosch injectected engine - 4.0 or 4.6 makes no odds.

hi , i have a 2000 4.6 v8 vogue its vin no starts sa .
it has only had 2 owners from new and i have full history details
it is the autobiography version .cost k60 new and has the thor engine ,so that upsets your theory ?? as far as im aware the thor engine wasnt fitted till late 99 , but i could be wrong . hope this helps ... p.s. this is the best car ive ever owned , there is only one criticism NO electric mirror closers !! ?????? how they never got that one right on a 60k motor is beyond me .apart from that everything works correctly .maybe im lucky ...cheers mozz:)

No,not all - perhaps I should have explained better.The model year which goes from Aug 1st on LR vehicles is put into the vin before the last six numbers,so XA=1999,YA is 2000 so yours will be XA or YA.Most likely YA,but I have had the situation where I had 3 P38 RR's - all WA,(1998my) and they were R,S and T reg.If you put the vin into Microcat the cars were all built in the 98 model year,so it depends a bit on how long they sat around before registering etc.

hi eightinavee . i stand corrected young sir i just cheched out what u said about letters before last six nos and mines a --YA .so you know your stuff well done ,kind regards manchestermozz:):):)
 
The guy is way off mark I have a 1998 hse with a gems set up I bought a new engine cheap of a stealer who was getting rid of his p38 spares and it was a 4.6 thor engine I had to mod the engine to suit the engine management system the other way round would be nuts give it a wide berth
