300tdi engine plus auto gearbox into 110 CSW (19j)

I think it fits but no speedo drive gear on td5 one. Think you can fit it in to the blank saw someone said had somewhere but be easier to get a 300tdi one. Shouldn't be too hard to find one

I've been on to our local Landrover suppliers, BLRC, I'm being told that there is no difference in the transfer box size (19j + lt77 box) and that the autobox will mate to it.
Can you please explain why the 300tdi plus auto box will sit further back than standard?
Sorry to be a pain - use words of one syllable......!

300tdi and v8 had long gearbox like discovery and rrc but because the engine is up against the rad as in a disco and rrc it puts the lt230 2 inches further forward than the 2.5s and 200tdi that used a short gear box but engine against the bulkhead,it seems odd tthat the longer box has t/box further forward but its just because the engine is moved forward so much,lt 230s are all the same dimensions and all we bolt on but there are variances with hand brake brackets and the fact disco td5 boxes dont have speedos or diff lock in many auto box es are the same length as discover and rrc manual boxes both lt77 and r380s and defenders r380s are also the same length, 300 tdi has engine in same position related to chassis as disco hence front props and front down pipes etc all interchange a long with many other parts

The boxes might mate up but the ratio is diffirent to the discovery box so it won't match the gearing on the new box it'll be crap to drive

Fit the engine, gearbox and transfer box into your 110 in exactly the same position as it is in the Discovery, the easiest way of doing this is to use the Discovery gearbox cross-member. As I said before, the chassis mounting holes for the cross-member and gearbox mounts are in the same place on the 110 and Discovery chassis.
The LT230 transfer box is the same size externally on all models, but the gearing is different, you can keep your existing transfer box, but you must use the Discovery cross-member to put the transfer box in the correct position and it may rev its bollox off as the gearing may not be ideal.

Hope this helps a bit ;)

Ok, taking your advice and putting the engine/gearbox/transfer box in the correct position.
Am looking at sourcing a transfer box so this can be done asap.
Front props need changed to disco ones. Anything else?
