The dashboard makes it look like a 'demented frog':p

I like the idea of a warmer heater tho:rolleyes:

Im attending one of the launch thingies , its end of April at Eastnor Castle. Im going for the free grub and abseiling rather then looking at the new Defender.

Yesterday I spent 2 hours off road and 1 hour on road with the new Defender.......Thanks Land Rover;)

3 things really stood out for me:

1) 70mph+
2) Holding a conversation at normal talking levels at 70mph+
3) Heater and air con

If you can get past the fact that it does sound like a Transit it is a very comfortable car that you could easily live with day to day and cover long journeys with.
Gearbox felt nice and close and the engine is nice and torquey.

Would I change my 'E' reg 90.....umm NO!!
Think Ill just investigate better sound proofing and de misting solutions.

Did the one you test drove have a speed limiter of 82mph ??

This was one of my first port of calls when starting to tune these things , along with the other normal mods like exhaust CAT removal and the centre box removal etc etc.

Read the reviews and it does look great. That's if you're in the 20grand plus market place which I'm not. The spec doesn't look that impressive on paper in terms of power, torque, max speed, fuel consumption etc. In fact doesn't look like an improvement on previous models when you kook at it like that although I know it is. Have owned and driven many ford tranny diesels and you can't beat that engine for performance and reliability. It'll be a lomg time before I can afford a trannyfender though.

Here are some pics of the new defender engine, it does look a kinda weird with a ford engine in a landrover tho

:)

I carnt understand why landrover decided to make it have a speed limiter of ONLY 82mhp in the first place ,,, GRRRRRRRR

It just makes my life a lot harder to develope a performance tune for these things.

They didnt,it was a leftover from the Tranny software,I should think it will be patched out soon enough.

It's a feckin Land Rover ffs - why the feck would anyone want to do more than 80 mph in one anyway? It'll still sound like a red arrows fly past at 100 feet and you'll get about 4mpg.

Mr Bell whatever... do any of yer clients use their defenders for workin' or just fer posin'?
